The brandy thread got me thinking... I love the Amarena Fabbri cherries from W&S, but I don't like the pricetag (I'm a starving student). I think I might try my hand at making my own brandied cherries for cocktails. Can anyone suggest an appropriate brandy to use?

Also, recipes abound on the nets but websites are no substitute for personal experience. Anyone have one that works?
