What's the appeal of the wings/horns x dayton service boots - Page 126

Here are mine. They were defects so I only wear them in bad weather or doing dirty works.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

The replacement pair I got turned out ALSO to be a defect (like, wat??) so I've been waiting for it to come back from Dayton's for about a month.

What were the defects? I figured/hoped they had their shit together by now.

I go back and forth really. I like the leather laces a lot actually. But the cotton ones are great for just slipping the boots on and sort of half tying them up.

I also posted comparison photos of the boots here (next to the same boot straight from Dayton, i.e. not W+H).

Easily the best purchase I've made on b&s. Hands down. They are due for a resole though, so we'll see what happens.

Ceoceo, what was wrong with yours? It still amazes me that their quality control is so bad. The only explanation I can think of for why they still manage to put boots out that are botched is Dayton doesn't view the defective area of the boot as a defect. Like they just think that's normal or whatever. I have a regular pair they sent out here that are at least an EEE width. I had ordered an E width. When I told Stephen about it, his reply was 'Oh. Well, when you get back just send them to us and we'll recraft the soul so they're not so wide.' That was seriously his reply. It's a shame because when the boots are done right they're fantastic.

For the Charcoal Nubuck pair, the right toe has a bite, left neck has a hole, and the upper leather pieces (that tie the boots) are too big and as a result the toe looks tiny.
The replacement pair's left foot had its welt sewn wrong, so it gave me blisters after about 40 miles of walk when the right foot broke in nicely. I just called and "the workers are stretching the shoes so it is more comfortable." I am pissed because I already tried that at local cobbler's but at the same time I am kind of glad because I don't have to wait anxiously for a new (possibly defect) pair of replacement boots of replacement boots.

And yeah when done correctly, they are fantastic. Even though the left foot would be in pain after an hour of walking, I loved wearing my oiled black pair

Lol at replacement boots of replacement boots even though it's not funny at all. I'm in the same boat.

Dayton's moto should be something like 'every pair has a story to tell' and it would be true in so many ways.

Now I'm starting to get worried about mine that are coming. Really hoping I don't have to deal with these issues--made my order in mid February, expecting them in early-to-mid April.

Do the actual W+H collabs' sole turn a natural-ish color after wear?  The charcoal nubuck version that starts out with a black/grey-ish sole.

yes.

Sorry for another question, but I managed to get my hands on a used pair in charcoal nubuck.  They're a tad  big though, what insoles have people generally been using?  Just superfeet?

I haves liked the superfeet black one, the thinnest.

If anyone has a pair of brown wh collab in 9 they wanna get rid of PM me.

^Sounds good, deciding between Copper DMP/Black DMP/Blue/Black.   I have low arches.  Would the size 7.5-9 insole fit in a size 8.5 Dayton x W+H boot?  Alternatively if anybody has a pair of lightly used W+H charcoal nubucks in 8 they're trying to trade for an 8.5 let me know.

Dayton launched their new website ... first thing I noticed was what seems like a $100 across the board price increase.
My X-boots are now $479!
Would like to think that markup is going to tighten up qc musicboohoo[1].gif

That said anyone got the brown w+h joints in a 12 they want to sell give me a pm.
