Issue w/ Chester Jefferies Order

I ordered a pair of The Parade and The Oxford. Initially I did not indicated what colours I wanted and an e-mail was sent asking for those colors. I replied with the colors and questions about fit three weeks ago. Last week I e-mail CJ to give me a status report on my order. No reply. I chalked it up to the holiday rush and staff being out for holiday. Today I e-mailed again for a status update. No reply from CJ.

I'm getting concerned. My order seems to have fallen into a black hole. I'm going to give them until the end of the week to respond. If they don't respond, I'm going to have to go somewhere else because my brown fur-lined gloves are getting worn out and need replacing.

In the UK, most businesses are on holiday from Christmas until 5 January (today). Employees of some smaller businesses may not all be back to work until the second week of January. Most likely Chester Jeffries staff were away for the holidays and I would relax and wait for them to get in touch with you. There isn't the same sense of urgency here in the UK as there is in the US - for better and for worse!

Not the greatest customer service - ordered two pairs back in October and I get an email over the holidays saying that my cc didn't go through.

I had to chase them get an initial email confirmation about my order and they responded 3 weeks later.

I sent them an email about two weeks ago and have not heard back. I would chalk it up to the holiday.

Before that I'd sent a few emails to them and they always replied within a few hours. I am assuming they are just on holiday, though it would be nice if they would put something on the site.

I assume it's the same for all clothing or bespoke tailoring in the UK to take 2 weeks vacation for Christmas. My order for a waistcoat from Bookster is on order and it states on their site 8-10wks due to backorders from the holiday, normally 6-8wks.

My 1st order from CJ took 3/4wks to arrive, had the order corrected due to miscommunication and 3wks later the other pair arrived, for hand traced machine sewn. Through it all they replied within 1 day as another poster stated.

There are pics in a post about gloves http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=142905

I think you're overreacting. Their orders take up to six weeks to complete, and there's the Christmas and new year's holidays on top of that.

That said, my experience is that they are a bit slow responding to e-mail. If you need instant answers, give them a call instead. They're very friendly and happy to answer questions over the phone.

I placed an order on 12/3. I received an email response acknowledging the order on 12/4. Then it was all silence until the gloves showed up yesterday in the mail. So, you might want to wait a bit. Check your credit card to see if you were charged - at least that way you know that your order went through. Also, check if their email got routed to your spam folder. I used Yahoo mail for my email account, and I didn't see any responses for a while, only to discover that they had indeed responded and their reply went to my spam folder....

I had a strange experience with CJ. I placed an order specifically requesting no points. However they sent the gloves with points and a note that stated the wait time would have been too long to fill the order as requested. I would have thought an email or phone call prior to shipping would have been appropriate. I did receive the gloves within 2 weeks and and pleased with their quality overall, despite the service issue.

Kinda what I figured with the holiday season in the UK. I just didn't expect their e-commerce system to be as bare bones as it is nor expect the lack of timeliness with e-mail replies. I understand that certain orders (mostly bespoke) can take up to 6 weeks to fill. What I ordered wasn't terribly exotic. I just specified a measure of the circumference of my hand and my color choice.
