Roslyn's right over the Potomac river - it's essentially DC. Lot of companies and trade associations settle there for the less costly rents.

Doubt many smart engineers from Stanford or Berkeley choose to work for aerospace/defense industry anymore....may have been true in '60s or '70s...but sharpest kids today are usu CS grads who go to either BigTech or start-ups in SiliconValley...or hedge funds in CA or NYC...not a lot of bucks or intellectual challenge working for a gvt contractor, esp when 30-something Stanford alums are some of wealthiest guys in world after starting own cos. (or being early employees in now-ancient cos. like google)

Besides, life is too short to live in a dump like Wash; anyone smart/ambitious tends to live/work in SV or Manhattan these days, both for lifestyle and to maximize career liquidity amongst the many tech or financial start-ups of more dynamic regions

DC a dump? Hardly? It's a vibrant city where one can actually afford to live in a real house. Perhaps you're too young to care about such things. Traffic and weather suck (but neither NYC or SV can really brag about there's)...

When you're a little older, maybe you'll be a little better informed and less sure of yourself (the two are not mutually exclusive)

Less than 300 people are affected by the move. it is more for image than anything else. they are keeping their facilities in S.Cal just moving the big dogs closer to the pentagon.

it is not that big a deal. Boeing did not move to DC because it has 2 different businesses (commercial and military) so chicago is 1/2 way and makes more sense.

Yeah...I give SV the credit for the weather But other than that we just learn to deal with it here, it seems.

I'm just not sure how DC can be considered a "dump". Some parts of the city, yes, but clearly a lot of cities have that.
