I don't see the resemblance at all. Unless they are just saying its a samba because its a low profile sneaker. But then tons of shoes would be just sambas.

Growing up w/ football, black trainers w/ gum soles will always be sambas. Of course cp's have interpreted it in their own way, but there's simply no denying it that Sambas (german army sneakers, a derivation of samba) was the inspiration behind this.

I like gum soles but not the way they chose to do them. It seems like a lot of CP is moving towards adding two details; one good and one bad/unnecessary.

I'd never be caught dead wearing sambas.

I like the whites, not digging the blacks too much. Wouldn't buy either at the price, I'd stick to the reg. ones. Last season's flashy stuff was better at the price point imo.

Agreed. I was kind of hoping for more things like that this season.

I never looked at those but you're right look to be the same. I still like the thickness of the other sole. Probably won't stop me from copping with my hookup.

Does it seem to anyone else, that CP keeps trying all these new designs, getting further away from their initial concept of a clean, comfortable, classy, understated sneaker, in an effort to justify their ever rising price tag?

Though some of their new designs have been hits, most have failed (at least amongst the SF crowd).

Give me the original Achilles at the original price point, and I'd be a customer for life!

180 for cps isnt really a good price though.. so...

The sole looks lower profile, perhaps it's a mould from their women's versions that are coming out. I like the white ones, will probably buy. White shoes with gum soles are emminently wearable, easier to pull off than black shoes/white soles, IMO.
