Hello, everyone. I recently bought a pair of Faconnable shoes. They look sort of like this pair of Allen Edmonds I've seen and they say that they're made in the U.S.A. Does anyone have a clue as to who they're made by? Thank you.

I also have a pair of loafers which I really like that say "made in Italy" and really look like Santonis. Is this possible?

Are you serious? Grenson? AE? Santoni?

I have no idea which shoes you've been looking at but the shoes at the Facconable boutiques in Paris are cheap, flimsy garbage on top of being ugly as sin.

Yep serious...the suede facconable shoes I have on today are made by AE. Nice shoes BTW.

A couple years ago some one from Port Washington was selling a bunch of AE made Facconable shoes on ebay. I've never seen any decent Facconables in store though.

Any Faconnable shoe made in the USA is (was) made by Allen Edmonds. Good shoes. I still can't figure the maker on some of my Italy made Faconnables.

I knew someone who worked at the NY store (from 06 to 09) and, at that ime, the vast majority were rebadged Too Boot NY shoes. Literally you could walk across the street to Saks and find the same exact shoes/boots with the TBNY label. I have seen the new shoes and, while some of the lasts are sleeker, I would assume the quality similar to that of TBNY shoes not Santoni.

At one time Alden also made shoes for Faconnable, I am pretty sure.

Agree that just about all the Faconnable shoes I have seen in recent years look like cheap crap.

I picked up a pair of Faconnable chukkas at a Nordstrom's sale about 10 or 11 years ago that have given me excellent service--great shoes! They are not A-E or Alden. An Alden rep I showed them to at a trunk show said they definitely weren't Aldens (I had thought they might be). He suspected they were of Italian manufacture. Several shoe repairmen commented on what good quality they were whenever I would have new toplifts installed.

I bought a pair of these because they were available in a narrow width. Split toes with a rubber sole. They're my go-to rain shoes. Great purchase at a great price.

I had two pair of these. Both purchased on eBay...one from a private seller, but the other from a seller called PortWashington shoes. The payment to PortWashington shoes went to Allen Edmonds. Both shoes were split-toe, apron front bluchers, almost identical to an AE model, the name of which I don't remember. The only difference was the Faconnables have Vibram Gumlite soles. I sold the suede pair because they didn't get much wear, but the chili calfskin model remains one of my favorite shoes, especially in bad weather.

Yes, I agree.

But the one or two pairs that I have seen, had a reference to Alden on the shoe label. (Something like "Faconnable made by Alden")
