Eye exams in NYC

Anyone know of a place that does not grossly overcharge for a contact lens exam?

I got quotes from $158 to $175. I already wear lenses. Just need to double check my prescription. That is ridiculous pricing. Anyone got a place they go to that is more reasonable? Thanks.

Isn't Lenscrafters $50 or $60 ?

Nah, $158 for a lens exam. For regular glasses, it is much cheaper (probably in the range you mentioned). Contact lens exams are a horrible ripoff usually.

Anyway, I called a slew of places. If anyone chances upon this thread later, I'd like to recommend French Optical Fashion in K-Town as a cheaper place. Contact exams are only $75 ($95 for toric - if you have astigmatism). That is nearly $100 cheaper than the competition. And they speak English, despite being Korean.
