Hey, you laptop manufacturing morons

Seriously, how hard is it to create a feedback loop where the power supply stops supplying power to the laptop once the battery reaches 100%. You can make it an option that a "power user" can select from the Power Settings. Is this really beyond your stupid fucking engineering prowess? Is this really one of Earth's great fucking mysteries? Maybe so. Maybe for eternity mankind will have to deal with a severely shortened battery life because they keep leaving their laptop plugged in. Fuck you, laptop manufacturers. Get a brain, morans.

Dear user: What do you want? It sells more batteries. Sincerely, The Morans

All the info I just read on a quick google search says that leaving the battery plugged in is fine. What am I missing?

nothing. lithium ion laptop batteries do not suffer from or degrade due to "overcharge". i plug mine in all the time. no problem. including work laptops that are in constant docked when not on travel

i thinkpad does that.

+1. I set my thinkpad to stop charging at 80% so it doesn't ruin my battery.

Who cares about long term battery life degradation? If you're not replacing your laptop every year with a newer model you are a small timer.

IMO it's about taking better-care of your belongings.

Here's a guide for ThinkPads.

And more about charging cycles and how it affects battery life.

When I use my laptop at home for browsing, I even take my battery out and have my laptop run 100% on AC.

Unless you have a Macbook... since when hooked up via AC, but sans battery, a Macbook will not run properly.
