Suede shoes to a NYE party? Don't want them to get ruined

Just bought some suede drivers by Car Shoe and would like to wear them out for NYE. I am in NYC and will be going to Sutton Place with friends. For those of you in NYC, you may know that Sutton Place is always packed and so I am hesitant because I don't want to ruin them. Obviously, there is the chance that my shoes will get stepped on or drinks will get spilled as things get crazy.

Now I don't want to wear crappy shoes just because I am too nervous to screw up my suede drivers, so it's a catch 22. What do you guys think? How effective would stain repellent be at protecting them in this scenario?

Don't risk it: get some overshoes like those pictured.

Do they do those in clear so at least folk can see you have half decent shoes on underneath?

I would not wear suede to Sutton Place under any circumstance, but I absolutely would not wear them in the freezing rain and snow that is predicted for Thursday night to a bar packed to the gills with drunk 20-somethings slamming down mixed drinks filled to the brim as fast as the open bar will let them.

No one in Sutton Place will notice your shoes. I promise. I would wear the beatest beaters you can get your hands on.

Sometimes, the pleasure of fine clothes is in treating them carelessly.

While this is a Tom Ford ad, it has useful things to say about priorities:

This Sutton Place?

As for your shoes, in addition to the drinks and crowds, rain and snow are on the radar, so suede might not be the best choice. And besides, they don't exactly sound festive--do you have anything in black?

While I'm here, about that rain: I've got these opera pumps lined up, but they aren't exactly storm gear. Is this a terrible idea? I'd expect patent leather repel water pretty well, at least over shot stretches, but it's not my usual custom to prance through puddles in shiny shoes. What I really need are some overshoes, like Cary Grant's friend wears in Holiday....

Jerry: Can you get vomit out of suede?

George: I don't know.

Kramer: Yo-yo Ma!

Clearly you've been there, so thanks for the advice. It's basically a post-undergrad frat party at this place. Still fun at times, but I'm definitely growing out of it.

Yup, that's the place.

I didn't even think to check the weather. If there is rain/snow on the forecast, I will most definitely not wear them. However, I don't even like to wear leather in the rain since I ruined a pair of Ferragamo loafers by wearing them in rain/snow and never knowing that I should have cleaned them to remove the salt that accumulates.

Maybe I will just wear a pair of alligator loafers and have my girlfriend give me a piggy-back ride.

Sutton Place will be so amazingly crowded that nobody will notice the shoes. Just make sure you wear something with a rubber sole. It is either going to rain or snow on Thurs night (supposed to be 37 degrees).

Dont wear those suede shoes you are speaking of.

Mm. I was running around the city 'til 4AM in my Alden wingtips during that blizzard a couple weeks ago. They seem to've come out none the worse for wear, but they did tighten up a bit at the time and my toes still haven't recovered.

But it was also a total blast. If a little foot pain is the price you pay to not show up to the Carlyle in Bean boots, I'd pay it again.
