I can confirm... they don't know the ins and outs of JCrewdom at the SCP store like we do here. At the Mission Viejo store I feel like they're a bit more flexible. I once even managed to get student discount on top of a in-store 30% off outwear promotion.

In general I think JCrew customer service is highly overrated here, especially to other competitors.

South Coast is my home store. I wonder if I ever walked by y'all sometime. They have gotten a better selection there cept it's so f'n cramped there. I can never look at the shirts without someone using that table in front as a folding thing.

I have always been treated well at JCrew. The people they hire generally seem to enjoy their jobs and try to take care of you while you shop. Compared to BR or Gap and the service is night and day.

Care in point, a while back I ordered a final sale item online. Two days later unexpected expense came up and I realized that I needed the money more then I needed the clothes. I called JCrew and the nice lady I spoke to was able send a note down the line and they called UPS to have the shipment rerouted and returned to the factory. I got a full refund. That's good service.

Try canceling an order over the phone with BR or Gap. Won't happen. I tried it once with BR for an order I placed on a Sunday morning. Called that night and the Rep I spoke with gave me the run around and said it was already being processed to go out the door. On a Sunday! Guess what, it shipped 3 days later.

I have to agree. J. Crew does customer service well, in my book. I've had nothing but the best service online, by phone, and in the store.

i need something with a 21-22" p-t-p and around 18" shoulder measurement

If I remember correctly, my medium blue chambray is 18.5" shoulders and 22.5" chest. I usually look for the same measurements as you so this shirt is slightly relaxed on me. I've been meaning to have it slimmed in the body.

Just got the utility jacket in shadow. I'm very happy with it. Definitely more of a spring jacket. The color is more subdued than in the jcrew.com photos: kind of a washed navy. I got a size small and it fits me well. A slim-fit, without being snug. I'm 5'10", 145 lbs, 38R.

Also got my utility jacket in shadow today. Definitely not as bright as it looks online but very nice none the less. Got a size small and fits great in the chest, but may try to get the sleeves shortened just a bit if it is possible.

Yes, they're starting a whole line in my honor. First the Robert watch. Now the Robert boxers. Soon to come, the Robert distressed shoelace.

Awesome and good to know. I should have the one I ordered in by Saturday. Can't wait to check it out. Got a Large-Tall in Shadow. Hope the arms are long enough. I know someone on this thread said his Tall didn't feel like one at all.

Hopefully they keep it all in the men's line.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I haven't been treated "well", as in the SA's are respectful and pleasant. But in terms of customer service, their competitors have them beat in: Coupon & promo stacking Cardmember discounts - Gap/BR's signup discount is stackable, plus 10% off every Tues) Shipping costs - $18.50... really?? Return policy - Other catalog-based competitors have non-expiring return policies, and let's face it - with the way J.Crew intentionally keeps inventories and number of stores low to generate demand and exclusivity, for many they pretty much are an online and catalog-only brand. No non-returnable final sales Pricing matching with online Having said all that, where they have their peers beat is styling and I'm a customer as long as they continue to do that. And maybe they know that. Don't worry about spending money and overhead on customer service; if the product's not good, there won't be any customers in the first place.

awesome, ordered a bunch of shirts and they sent me all "Tailored fit" instead of just the regular shirts.

no, it is not to generate demand and exclusivity, nor is it intentional. we're talking about a mall brand here.
