I bought a pair of J Crew urban slim fit chinos which I quite like. However, the rise is a bit too long for my 5'2" frame. Can I have a tailor shorten the rise, and if so does anyone have a ballpark estimate of cost? I know shortening the rise is possible with some types of pants, but I'm not sure if the broken in chinos are doable.

hemming pants costs like 10 dollars and is doable yeah.

The hem isn't the issue. It's the rise I'm talking about.

Stick with a small...they are not that much slimmer. In fact, they could stand to be more slim...as could all their shirts.

I feel like shortening the rise is going to be a crazy amount of work. The tailor is going to have to mess with the zipper and pockets and everything.

I feel like this would be way more trouble than it's worth. No doubts that they are great pants, but, if they don't fit, you would be better off finding something else that would require less extensive modifications.

An Antique Mall in Orange County. I am trying to find out some more info on it before I come up with a price. Some of these old Timex watches seem to go on ebay for almost $150+ while some of them don't make it past $75.

Man you could get a much nicer antique watch for $150+ then a Timex on Ebay if you look around. I know you guys love how they look, but I wouldnt spend over $75 on one myself.

picked up a pair of the essex pants on sale this weekend. perfect for the summer, as it is very light weight. not prone to wrinkles either as i ended up falling alseep in them

also - just an interest check, but i have a medium utility jacket in the color surplus (greenish). i purchased it at the store a little while ago, but i don't like how the jacket is so short, as it seems to fit a little smaller. i'm thinking of returning it, unless someone here wants to buy it? holla!

You might be better off with the fatigue jacket, which is longer and a little heavier. The medium utility jacket does fit really slim, but I tried on the large and understood what people meant by "flying squirrel sleeves":

Do you have measurements on the red chambray by any chance?

Same here. I'll be checking out the worsted wool and herringbone Ludlow jackets in Boston tomorrow.

I've definitely seen much narrower lapels than the ones in these photos.
