Anyone who has or can take pictures of the J Crew suede wing tips? http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/Mens...9575/19575.jsp

Yup, seems like a great color for denim. Surplus coat + olive drab khakis = John Rambo style; do it!

I got the Tall size down to $75 with coupon, but then the tax and shipping took it back up to $95.

I know it's been discussed before, but JCrew really needs to start giving cheaper shipping offers. They could do a flat shipping rate for $7 like Gap/BR does. As it is I am going to hold off on this order until I can swing by a store and see if I can get them to order it with the 30% off promo and give me free shipping. If not, I may pass. It's a nice jacket, but I have more of a need for pants and shirts right now.

They don't mind ordering in the store, because they get a commission on those sales too. IJust be sure you ask your favorite SA to help you instead of doing it yourself. t's definitely worth it if you can wait until you you get to a store.

That's what I used to do all the time for BR. Find what I want online, write down the order number and take it to a SA for free shipping. Last couple times I tried to do that they wanted to charge me shipping so I gave up on the process. I think it's a new rule with them or something.

Also picked up the utility jacket in shadow with the extra 30% off. Tough decision between the shadow and the surplus color, at least until I realized only one was in my size anyway.

would the CS honor free shipping and student discount over the red phone ?

Yup, you just have to show the SA your student ID and they confirm it with the voice on the phone.

now the real trick would be to convince a CS that due to the snowstorm i'm unwilling to travel to my nearest j.crew just to present a student ID/request free shipping. if they'd honor that, i'd buy stock....
so how do you get free shipping?

This should work. Back in the days when I searched for the on-sale peacoat, one SA I didn't know offered to call CS to have it shipped to the store for free.

British Millerain Oil Cloth in Carob for 90 bucks. Anybody have this color? I'm trying to decide whether or not I should pull the trigger or get the utility jacket. I was hoping for navy or black in the millerain but those sold out.

These straps look way better than the J. Crew ones.

It's not really a fashion jacket (as it's not really slim), but for $90, it's a great field jacket. I got one on sale for $110 a few months ago and I've been using it as an outdoors jacket. With a vest underneath, it's kept me warm and dry. Much cheaper than a Barbour and an adequate substitute.

Are you being serious? I don't see much difference. Plus they're 4 bucks more than what I paid for my J. Crew ones.
