OK, I don't get this. J Crew claims that the chambrays are slimmer (at least the blue, grey, and white ones ): "Tailored fit"”a slimmer cut with a made-to-measure feel. " Check the description.

But these fit larger than the secret wash? I thought the secret wash fit really big. Is this right?

All J.Crew shirts will need tailoring anyway. Don't ever expect a SF fit on anything besides pants and jeans from J.Crew.

Edit- Also J.Crew will send you measurements of the shirt within like 12 hours of you emailing them.

Yes, I see now that the secret wash shirts also say they have a "tailored" fit. I guess J Crew's version is somewhat different than SF's.

The one item I will say has a truly slim fit is the Thomas Mason dress shirts that are made with actual neck and sleeve sizes (i.e.: 15x34, not the S, M, L ones). I've mentioned it before, and these are even close to SF-slim.

The Thomas Mason shirts are another sad joke.
If you have a neck of 15.5 you have five sleeve options at Brooks Brothers ranging from iirc 32-36 For the Thomas Mason dress shirts you have two 33,34.

J.Crew has pretty much given up on the teacher/student discount.
Last year I could use my student/teacher discount on everything in the J.Crew store. 6 months ago I could use it on anything besides final sale items. Today I discoverd I now can't use it on ANY sale items, Red Wings, Sperry, Timex, or any other colab. If I use it for an online purchase that is eligible for free shipping, I now have to pay for the shipping if I want the discount.

I picked up an american apparel red chambray that fits really well. the color is better also.

Can you post a picture? The online store doesn't have a photo of the red chambray (which is US$54 or A$87 for Australians who are used to getting ripped off).

Christ, as a newbie I sincerely hope I never give a flying one about SF fits.

I've got one of the J Crew S/S10 gingham oxfords and it fits almost as good as custom fit Polo RL or Gitman. Good enough for me.

$15 to $20 is a minimal cost to be able to wear a shirt you like in a fit that flatter's your body. Buy the shirt you want and get it tailored to your body.

That is terrible. If I can't use it, then I don't buy. Hopefully they will at least keep it around for in store purchases. Wouldn't be such a big deal if they didn't completely rip you off with shipping.

The Crew Chambray feels so soft; moreso than the standard blue and grey ones they've got. It's alot softer than my RRL Red Chambray. I wanna feel that Lucky Jeans one too...

Cheated a bit and put one aside processing the shipment late Sunday. Though it obviously doesn't come with the faux eg button there
