questions about raw denim jeans from a newbie

Alright I recently got a pair of DC raw denim jeans. They're huge on me right now... I wear 30 and they're 32. I want them to shrink as much as possible. What's the best way to do that? But I also want them to do that high fade thing (I'd like something high contrast). If I leave em in hot water to shrink them, will the color fade in the process and will it be as if they're washed? Or can I shrink them first and then wear them as before?
Thanks!

Jeans are best worn as shirts.

Hmmm... what'd happen if I tried to shrink them now?
They're indigo btw, not sure if raw denim comes in other kinds of dye...

Mark, wash them in the hottest water possible and if you can add boiling water from a tea kettle or sparkletts dispenser. Then throw them in the dryer on the highest setting for about an hour. They should shrink to size 30 perfectly.

Thanks! I shall do that. Can I just fold them up, stick them in a big pot, and heat them on a stove?
And will they just stay the dark indigo color and not fade after that?

Or if I do that, will the folds show up when it's done? Should I just do the bathtub full of hot water thing?

Yeah, do this. Put them in boiling water and leave them for about an hour, it should be fine.
