product for medium length, longer on top, guy's hair?

What product would work best for longer hair brushed to the side, sort of like this? My hair's not this long now, but I've been trying out a few products. I like American Crew Fiber, but it's not really meant for hair this long, is it? Anyone have any experience with Crew's Tea Tree firm hold styling cream? According to the description, it's "excellent for longer hair." It seems like a lot of the men's products are intended for shorter hairstyles. I haven't tried pomade, but I don't like the shiny, wet look. I basically just want something that will keep the hair in place, while still looking natural, and won't feel sticky if I run my hands through it.

Anyone?

I've seen a lot of praise on here for products like Sumotech, Fiber and Aveda Grooming Clay. Would these products be OK for hair around this length, or would it be better to go with something else?

Where do you live? Bigger cities have Medium Length Longer on Top Guys' Hair Salons. Try one of those.

It's a pretty standard guys cut, so most places can probably handle it, right? Anyway, I'm in Cleveland.

I was mainly wondering what type of product would work well for this length Between wax, fiber, clay, cream, etc...it can get a little confusing.

Get thee to Beachwood, ask for Kiehl's Silk Hair Groom at the Saks store.

I actually have hair of similar thickness and texture to the guy in that picture but I wear mine a bit longer on the sides. I just use some American Crew pomade which i put in after my hair is dry and mostly it just helps to make sure i dont have any frizziness. I actually recently grew my hair out and the more experience I have with my hair the less product I use....just enuff to keep it from frizzing up.

Thanks for the info. I've tried a lot of products lately, but not pomade. Does it make the hair shiny, and is it greasy at all? I've heard the Crew stuff is good, but I kinda like the matte finish.

I just got a jar of the Aveda grooming clay. It seems similar to Crew's Fiber, but a little easier to work with.

no it dosent make the hair "wet" at all...it adds a bit of shine but not much at all....unnoticeable in fact. It ends up looking similar to the guy in the pic actually...i dont know how to explain it but you can see that he has created some texture and that some of his strands of hair kind of "stick together" without looking wet or being sticky. As I said before a little pomade also helps get to get rid of frizziness which you see when someone grows their hair out but uses no product at all. You can see that model obviously has no frizziness. I think pomade in moderation is a good way to get that effect....just dont slather it on like your trying to slick your hair back. I am obviously not versed in hair terminology so this is the best i can do!

Is this the stuff?

http://www.kiehls.com/_us/_en/hair/s...silk-groom.htm

So, a few questions:

Is this stuff for guys? From the site, it appears to be for women?

Would it be good for a hairstyle similar to the pic at top of page?

I think I have fine hair, but it's also very thick. Would this be ok, or would it weigh it down?

And finally, does it provide any hold?

Hey I recently found a new product for this type of hair. As my hair has gotten a bit longer (prob slightly longer then the guy in the pic) I have had some problems with frizziness. Somebody recomended "hair serum" to me and it works great. Its basically like a bit of oil to add some weight and luster to hair. So now what I do is put in some of that stuff, dry my hair, and then put in some pomade to do a little styling. Its fairly similar to that guy in the pic although he pulls it off a bit better because...well because he's a model and i'm not!
