Animated films

People have made a fairly big deal out of movies like Up and 9 this year. I really can't get in to them. The animation in 9 was quite stunning, but I just can't get emotionally involved with little cloth sacs, no matter how detailed the renderings.

Coraline?

What if the cloth sack was wearing a +2 enchanted armor? Seriously though this is pretty funny coming from you.

Doesn't sound very impressive to me.

For what it's worth, 9 was sort of a mixed bag with me as well. I wanted to like it, but the story seemed really recycled and short.

Did anyone see Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within? I liked it.

Did you see The Fantastic Mr. Fox? It was very funny, had wonderfully charming stop-motion animation, and didn't try to wring any tears out of the audience.

Has there been more than one FF movie? I saw one several years ago but I can't remember what I thought of it. It would have been really cool if they did one based on FF7. Sephiroth was the coolest bad guy ever. The cut-scene when he torches the town and murders everyone was so epic. edit: the NOOOOOOOOOOOO! at the end of that clip was worse than star wars.

Advent Children bored me. Strangely enough.

I've never actually seen it I just knew of it's existence and that FFVII fans fap over it.

I wouldn't say that, I'm a FFVII fan, and I found it droll.

I don't know, I didn't try to judge Advent Children like a serious film. For me it was like an extended cut scene, the action was good enough to justify watching it. Didn't make a whole lot of sense though. Fantastic Mr. Fox was fantastic. Coraline was great too, not quite as good though. Up was also very good. Good year for animated films. Apparently Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs was not bad either. Also, the French stop motion film A Town Called Panic is supposed to be excellent, the trailer was very fun.

The Incredibles and Finding Nemo are considered the decade's best animated films so check those out if you haven't. Both by Pixar I believe.

That one is sitting on my hard drive right now.

Um... I have yet to see a list that rates The Incredibles and Finding Nemo above Spirited Away. Hell, even Ratatouille and Wall-E are usually ranked higher than the two you mentioned.

Neither one of those two would probably even make my top five, were I to make a list.
