GTA IV: any good?

I might buy it tomorrow (PS3). Recommended? Although, to be honest, Mod Warfare is #1 on my list.

I don't like GTA, I think they're really dumb. This may be in part due to the fact that two of my suitemates play incessantly and I generally am itching to play Street Fighter or Tekken. It's another GTA game dude. From my observations I've gathered that it's a bit harder to avoid the cops in this one. There are some new things you can do that are kinda handy. It's I guess slightly more realistic than San Andreas. Still kind of [completely] retarded.

If you like GTA games, then definitely get it. I'd assume you've played one before? It's the most innovative and impressive of the series so far, but it's not the funnest. If you enjoy them, you'll get hours of game play from it, it's a huge game, massively detailed, and you can cause some major mayhem and chaos, which is always fun.

Oh, and you can go to strip clubs and get lap dances, which I'm sure you'd love

You'll get way more replayability from CoD. I would get that instead.

I enjoyed GTA:IV but it seemed to get a bit stale once I had completed the storyline. Although I guess the same could be said about most any video game.

i think it's the best one yet. i thoroughly enjoyed the story and the world is massive and can net hours upon hours of replay. i thought MGS was great too. guess i'm a story kinda guy. i am not buying CoD MW. mainly because of no story and no mouse/keyboard compatibility.

There's not much to do after beating the game since you're probably gonna exhaust all the fun of blowing up a bunch of shit but still GTA IV is one fucking long game. I'm talking about weeks of game time. There is just so much shit to due and I think the lowest anyone rated this game was 9.8. It has a ton of perfect scores because it's GTA done perfectly. Plus there is a solid multiplayer mode which I'm sure people still play but probably not a lot since you're kinda late to the party, but yeah you shouldn't have a gaming console if you didn't play GTA IV. And you shouldn't have a PS3 if you haven't played Metal Gear Solid 4.

GTA IV is $30. COD 5 is $60.

I don't really get what you mean by this since I assumed that money wasn't an issue. With the extra money you spend on CoD 5, you'll get more playtime out of it versus GTA. Plus, if I remember correct GTA has a really cookie-cutter multiplayer aspect (you just run around and kill things). CoD at least has a bunch of different modes that you can cycle through and guns you can unlock.

CoD 5 is $40 if you buy it "preowned" (I hate that term, its used!!!)

What are you talking about? GTA IV's multiplayer has CTF, Races, Co-op Missions, Free-for-all, TD and regular Deathmatch plus more. It pretty much has everything MW2's online has but less players. Though I'm sure that if I logged in on GTA's online I'd probably find a match pretty quickly. Not to mention that MW2 is just MW1 with a face lift. Nothing new worth noting.

Call of Duty 5 is World at War but they are talking about Modern Warfare 2.

Technically there isn't a CoD5.
