I believe that, although rare, males can start losing their hair that early. You should consult a dermatologist for options.

Do a full shave or super close buzz cut and see if it grows back. You'll know soon enough.

Men can start losing hair by the time they're in their late teens. It's not terribly uncommon. It would be wise to see a professional and see what might lay behind your hair change / loss. It could be early signs of balding. It could also be a symptom of some other underlying condition. Have you radically changed your diet? Are you under a lot of stress? Best not to speculate--get evaluated by a professional and find out what's what.

I began loosing my hair at 16. At 21 you are old.

Hey, this comes up all the time, get a good haircut, probably quite short. No comb-overs, no hairspray. Stand up straight, dress well and have good manners.

Get on it. My hair's been thinning the past year, and it has the holy Flying Spaghetti Monster scared out of me. I'm 24. Apparently, if it's thinning on the top of your head and you catch it early when you're young, then there's a huge chance it can be stopped/reversed. You may want to give the generic 5% Rogaine-knockoff a shot from your local Wal-Mart. Costs about $4/month, IIRC.

You are by no means too young for this. First, you should see a doctor, as there are several causes of hair loss. If this is just normal, androgen-related hair loss, then your two options are minoxidil (Rogaine) or Propecia. That's pretty much it.

do you, or have you recently, taken any medications? you'd be surprised how common a side effect hair loss/thinning is for just about every drug, whether a generic antibiotic (prolonged use, i.e., more than 2 months) or diabetes/heart medication.
