Congrats! I remember being captivated by it at the museum as well. I managed the afford a very nice postcard of it from the gift shoppe. I hope it captures the delicate attention Singer-Sargent paid to way light reflected off her pale skin. Congrats on having a father who would do something like this as well.

Thanks, guys. I have it hanging in a temporary home at the moment (it is all of 5' tall so one can't hang it anywhere). The best part is forgetting about it and having it catch me off guard. r... yes the artist did a fantastic job, Her skin is....the almost lavender quality, the redness of her ear and hairline. The worst part (that is, if there is a bad part) is how having a painting like that -- even a copy -- makes everything else in sight look like merely a shadow of beauty that could be. ~ H

crazy coincidence but my mom got me a litho of malcolm x for christmas.

Its my goal to one day have original artwork hanging on my walls. The idea that someone could just pull something out of the aether on an intrinsic merit, that I can then connect with... it always leaves me speechless.
