55k? I'd buy an 05 or 06 Carrera and spend the remaining $5k on wheels/suspension.

I think I made my decision. 09 Pontiac G8 GT. Low mileage ones fully loaded go for mid-high twenties so it's a great deal. Plus if I really wanted to make it a crazy car I can put an STS twin turbo kit on it which puts out 575hp to the wheels. Sucks Pontiac isn't around anymore but I have a G6 GT and it's a nice car. So for the combination of good looks, comfort, and price I'm going to grab a lowest mileage I can find GT and put a little money into it with some wheels and a nice sound system.

I wouldn't buy an orphan car. Terrible resale value and parts & service issue.

I would TOTALLY get the new SRX, such a DAMN sexy car!!! I hated the old one, but the '10 is such a fantastic redesign. I just bought a LR3 and absolutely love it, if you're into off-roading you may want to consider the newer LR4. BUT, then again ... if you want a fun "p**y-magnet" so to quote Borat- even though it's not a "luxury" car I LUST for the new Camaro. SUCH A HOT CAR.

By a new MB E class 550. Enough HP for getting it when you need to and a sturdy platform for carrying a crew when the need arises.

Or, wait until the new BMW 5 series comes out next year. It's going to be very nice!

Corvette. I really don't get 'entry-level luxury' cars with a 22 year-old behind the wheel. Really I wouldn't want a big sedan until I'm old and want a nice, comfortable ride. Although M3 would be nice it looks like it would be stripped of any amenities at that price - which makes the whole 'entry-level luxury' concept seem even stupider.

That's exactly what you can get a fully-loaded BMW 335xi for if you bargain enough and get everything for invoice. Now, speaking from experience, that is THE best and most refined luxury sports sedan for that kind of money. I have had that car for more than 2 years now and I still feel the thrill when I get into it. I would only change it for an M5, probably. In a few years... Having too much fun right now.

Oh, forgot to mention. ONLY get it with stick shift. And buy a tire insurance plan right away. The smartest investment you will ever make. Those run-flats drop like flies.

Then again I've never been a fan of smaller, "sporty" cars. When my grandmother's V6 Lexus has more power than you could ever need on a daily basis, a car so focused on performance seems unnecessary IMO.

*waiting for response from irate M3 and Porsche lovers*

This.

335 comes with run flats? Ugh, I hated those, and wouldn't have them again. Good recommendation though, the 335 is a great car.

How about a very slightly used E63 AMG? Fast enough to blow most of the suggestions already mentioned out of the water but still comfortable on the highway.
