I've not yet in 47 years felt the need to look like a sleazeball low life!

As with many things, there are lovely collar pins which enhance one's appearance when worn appropriately, and there are nasty collar pins which don't flatter anyone under any circumstances. I approve of the former.

i picked up a nice silver one from paul stuart for i think 12 bucks. i figured for that price i could afford to experiment. i prefer a tie bar as far as hardware goes, but this is probably due to the fact that i normally wear a spread or ainsley collar, and rarely a point. but my official opinion is they can be very nice, as long as they dont come off as a costume. i just try to channel john slattery as roger sterling when i do wear one.

Awesome necro-post. Took 6 months to get the first answer, then another 5 years to get the 2nd one...

I admire old timey fashion for what it is. I have a collar pin and had eyelets put into the collar of one shirt to wear it with. Its fun to wear but certainly not all the time.
