Baldwin Raw Selvage - Page 5

Thanks David. Do you have any heavier denim in the works?
The aforementioned black denim will be around 14-15 ounces, and we will have a few 14 ounce indigo selvage runs coming through later this fall. Not sure what mills right now, but I'll keep you updated.

Will you have any new colors for KC hats anytime soon?

We should have more KC hats (both restocked versions and perhaps a new colorway or two) here in the fall as well. We are currently moving towards a constant stock of two or three original colors and introducing small batch collections of them throughout the year.

I have a pair of henley in resin wash. Do I need to wear them for a long time and wait to wash them? Will they fade at all?

The resin rinse is designed, at least to some extent, to help retain the color and keep it darker longer. Because it has been rinsed, the fabrics reaction to long amounts of wear or frequent washes will be similar to dry denim, but with less drastic results. That being said, I'd wear them a ton and wash them only when they need to be. It's a great fabric, and they will break in awesome!

Hey , I was thinking about getting a pair of henley haihara's.... do these raws stretch any? I found a pair with great measurements except the waist will be about 3 inches too tight... so i was seeing if it would stretch to atleast 2 inches... thanks!

I don't typically suggest sizing down any further than that which will allow you to button the waist - but in my experience, the Kaihara does stretch considerably. I have that fabric and it isn't super heavyweight, and it didn't take long to notice a good amount of stretch in the waist.

Hope this helps! You'll love that fabric - it breaks in wonderfully.

David,

I picked up a pair of Henley Fit Raw Selvedge from the GAP X GQ collection. The waist fits fine but its especially tight around the knees and calves. I was wondering how much these will stretch when broken in.

Thanks for the help

Typically anywhere that is tight to begin with will stretch to a certain extent. Obviously the waist is generally going to stretch the most, and the hips and thighs after that - but I have found the knee and calf areas of my Henleys also stretch after a while. You've got to think that anywhere that feels tight feels that way as a result of stress being put on the fabric - which is why the fabric stretches anywhere.

The knees will stretch and mold fairly quickly, and they won't feel so tight when they crease and mold to your movements after several wears.

Good luck and keep us updated on how they're breaking in!

DH

They are in the production line-up but I haven't seen a specific date set to them yet. I will be sure to keep you updated!

Hi David,

Would you happen to know what denim is used in the GAP x GQ Henley Selvages?

Same here. Bought two sizes and now debating whether to keep the comfortable one or the tight one..... Not sure if they are sanforized or not.

Unfortunately I can't be sure - all of the sourcing for those pieces was done through Gap, and Baldwin really only played a part in the design process. I did get my hands on it, and I can say it certainly felt nicer than the typical Gap selvage, HOwever I can't speak to the origin or ounce weight other than guessing it might be around 12 oz. How are they breaking in?
