Why do you keep mentioning Inglourious Basterds? Are you getting payed by Tarantino to advertise his overrated movies online?

I am obsessed with Fantastic Mr. Fox. Surprised there isn't more talk of it here.

I think Ponyo was my favorite movie this year.

I didn't see any movies from this year.

I only just watched Basterds tonight and thought it good largely because of Christoph Waltz and the blonde jewish girl whose name wasn't really Emmanuelle. Two very good performances and Waltz was beyond good he was absolutely amazing. Movie-wise I am not sure I would say film of the year, but that might have been performance of the year.

There was lots I didn't see, but my 2009 Top Ten list stops at three: Bright Star, An Education, and Duplicity, which was incredibly well done although probably not art. Avatar was certainly an eyeful.

It was a terrible year for commercial releases.

I just saw Antichrist, it deserves to be in my top 3

I did not see many movies this past year, but I just watched Duplicity on DVD the other night and enjoyed it.

I liked UP and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, but I saw them both with my kids so I don't really compare them to adult movies.

I thought Inglorious Basterds was dumb and overrated. It's like a Hollywood fantasy of how movies can win a war.

One that hasn't been mentioned but that I really enjoyed was Michael Jackson - This is It. In addition to enjoying his music, it was really interesting to see behind the scenes of how a show is put together and also to remind us how talented MJ truly was.
