Hotels in Palm Springs

Wife and I are looking to get away for the weekend. We're looking for a high end boutique hotel. Something with a spa. Anyone been there lately? The last thread on the topic veered off to how/why Palm Springs turned into a gay mecca.

I go a lot, though I don't stay at hotels. Unless you are looking to play golf, try the Parker or the Viceroy.

Have a look through Tripadvisor's list:

If you're adverse to hoardes of gay people, avoid going the first two weeks in April next year.

Parker is an excellent getaway, the bungalows aren't very impressive though for the price but seclusion here is the highest.

Viceroy is great, younger more hip vibe(I hate that word), true definition of boutique hotel though the layout looks like an old motel. Service is superb I must say and everyone is very friendly, food is great too, even something as simple as bacon and eggs were some of the best I've had with applewood smoked bacon. During the summer we were permitted to stay in the jacuzzi all night so basically didn't close and have lovely background music which doesn't disturb. Will be staying here again come memorial day weekend.

There are a few other low key hotels I'll have to ask my boss about he goes many times a year because he's got some timeshare or something equivalent.

I can't really help you with hotels, but if you are looking to play golf, there are some great courses in Palm Springs and the surrounding vicinity. That I would be able to help you with.

The new Ace hotel is actually pretty cool. Great design throughout. Cheaper than these others but you could get one of the nicer suites. There is a spa, too.

Take a look at Ingleside Inn - A Small Boutique Hotel in Palm Springs.
It use to have excellent food as well.

When I stayed in PS I would stay at Hyatt Grand Champions.
If in downtown--The Hilton or Hyatt.--Far from Boutique hotels though.

FWIW the viceroy spa is not great. My friend who is a spa nut says him and his girl enjoyed the parker spa far more.

Esmeralda is very nice, but perhaps larger than you are seeking.

I can second trip advisor. I have found some splendid little places to stay through them. The customer written reviews are helpful and accurate.

Hated the Parker. The Viceroy is okay but make sure you get a bungalow.

Maybe the El Morocco? Never been but looks fun in a Palm Springs kitsch way.

Actually the El Morocco might be a good choice.

What'd you hate about the Parker?

I picked up attitude from staff. Dislike Jonathon Adler and his "work." The idea of sitting on ratty furniture that came out of some grandmother's house and hasn't been cleaned skeeved the hell out of me.

And they allow kids.
