Glad to find some like-minded souls. I have always seen a lot of love for Wilco on this forum...but they never really had much impact for me, despite being an Uncle Tupelo Fan.

It's easy to hate on wilco these days since their last 2 albums were really mediocre but yhf is still outstanding and i can always find room for Being There.

Took a road trip out around West Texas once soundtracked entirely by Trace and Portishead's Dummy. Damn near perfect.

Hate pretty much everything Wilco have done except for Yankee Hotel Foxtrot ("Jesus, Etc." is pretty unfuckwithable).

IMO, the biggest mistake Billy Bragg ever made was collaborating with Tweedy & Co instead of Farrar for that Guthrie project.

+1000 to this thread. Incredibly happy that this is almost a consensus. My friends would all consider this damn near blasphemy. That said, Uncle Tupelo really was the shit.

saw Wilco live in college for their A Ghost is Born tour, and as expected, they were mediocre.

Son Volt has their moments, though none as high as Uncle Tupelo. That said, the high points of Wilco are in a completely different league, creatively and sonically. None of Farrar's efforts have matched Yankee Hotel Foxtrot's poetic, percussive beauty.

Brian, listen to the new Son Volt and then report back. It is a great cohesive album with understated beauty. I would call it Farrar's shining moment....thus far.
