Those are not from the classic collection. Shoes from the classic collection made much better than those. These below are from the classic collection:

going back to your question- the Santoni FAMs are very beautiful shoes, while the orange lined are subject to your preference since they're kinda fashion forward.

Are you sure they are FAMs? They don't have the normal FAM sock lining. I still think they might be from the classic collection, just not cordovan ones like the one pictured above.

Your are right, they are from the classic collection. There is a wide range of styles in the classic collection. That collection retails from $335 to $1400. Here's another store's ad:

Sorry to bump an old thread but didn't want to post a new one.

Does anyone know which line of Santoni's these are and how the quality is?

I was selling a few pairs of Santoni for Dunhill recently - what line would these have been? RRP was about £495 I think.

Malphie

AFAIK Santoni for Dunhill only come in two varieties: true FAMs and Limited Eds.

I have a pair of the first and been equivocating about buying a pair of the second when I got derailed by a pair of Zegna couture XXX that looked even better (oh but the price: "the horror, the horror")

Lower class UK SF members who may not be out rioting tonight please check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_of_Darkness- :D

(I don't include US SF members because in the US everyone thinks they are middle class and that if they work really really hard they will become rich :slayer:) UK members know better, i.e, you actually need to do some stealing

Changing subject

I am happy to announce that from experience the difference between Ferragamo's top 'Lavorazione Originale' and their 'Tramezza' is quite narrow. Unfortunately that is now reflected in the narrowing of price diff too.

Top LOs kill C&J benchgrades everyday. (Note this is from someone that is offering a C&J benchgrades for sale).

But I fear that if I put LOs for sale here I would get a pittance compared with the C&Js

As I said in my bally scribe thread- SFers are loosing out on the pearls because they are focusing on the pork menu offered here

I believe you have that backwards regarding Ferragamo - is not Tramezza the top line and Lavorazione Originale the next line below Tramezza? Judging from the 'Orginales' I have on my feet at the moment - and the price I paid for them (about $400 discounted) I'm pretty sure that's the case.

Do not shame yourself in public dear friend

When I say top LOs I mean the best LOs. There is a large price/quality diff between LOs of 'lowish' quality and those of 'high' quality

. Sure in the official pyramid Tramezza is still the apex but top LOs are very close, and when you look at some styles, you are clearly better going LO than Tramezza

Not sure why I've shamed myself......nor am I too happy about your suggestion that I have.

However, I do appreciate the clarification.

Thank you.

SANTONI
These are unique products, handcrafted by master shoemakers who passionately devote the same care every day and give equal attention to each of the amazing stages, from the creation of the wooden formers, the genesis of the article, continuing through to the polishing and thorough final inspection.
The manual cutting of the leather, the hand stitching, in different styles of footwear, the use of fine leathers even for the whole insole, the choice of the best materials (from rubber to cork, to three-dimensional and innovative synthetic mixtures, such as Vibram), together with time and knowledge of shapes, make each creation an excellent product.
