Paper Denim GTO 1 Year Finish Question

I know that they are generally panned on this forum, but I'm in the market for a pair of Paper Denim GTO 1 Years. (They can't be all that bad. They are on the Original Top Ten List, after all.)

I've found a couple of brand new pairs at a very low price ($60). They have very different finishes. One pair is very dark and has some distressing on the thighs. The other is a more blue color (less dark) and has more pronounced distressing on the thighs and also has distressing on the backs of the legs. I'm assuming that one pair is older than the other. Which of these pairs is "more desirable?" Is one finish pre-Morrison departure? Any help would be much appreciated.

there is only one PDC gto 1 year finish....

for the GTO fit there are different washes...

I have the 1 year and the 3 year, I like the 3 year a lot more, however the 1 year is a nice dark denim color.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you're saying but these are both GTO 1 Years. The difference is in the amount of distressing, but the basic feel of the jeans is similar. They're both brand new with tags attached. It's like they decided to switch the amount of distressing one year.

Generally I find the older PDC's are better. They started to skimp on denim quality more recently.

That's what everyone's said. Does anyone have any idea which of these two would be the "older" pair? My guess is that the one with the distressing on the back of the leg is the "newer" pair.

Not necessarily. Paper Denim has always had problems with consistency in their production runs. With GTO-1s, I've seen pairs with barely perceptible whiskers, and pairs with very pronounced whiskers, pairs with lots of distressing behind the knees, some with none. I've seen these differences between individual pairs in the same shipment.

I have two pairs of GTO 1-years both about 2 years old now and bought around the same time. One pair has heavy distressing on the upper thighs and back of knees, the other has little distressing on the upper thighs and no distressing on back of knees. Both appear to be of the same quality and i have had zero problems with them. Like LA Guy said i think the inconsistency is not in the quality but in the distressing.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I guess I'll just go with the pair that fits better.
