At the risk of letting the proverbial cat out of the bag: fuck torrents, gedwid some NNTP.

But keep it hush hush, or all the kids will be doing it.

Nah one of them now finished and only 3 are downloading. I no understand. If there are 219 people seeding why am I downloading from NONE of them?

a) Private tracker OR
b) Ports not open

like everybody said, it's probably a private tracker--meaning that you may have gotten the link from a public site, but the server which is providing the torrent itself is private.

This is what I'm figuring since you apparently completed some downloads before this one. you should find another torrent of it somewhere else

BitTorrent and uTorrent are almost the same app.

All torrenting is, is it breaks down the file into different parts, and multiple people (seeders) upload the parts so that you can download them. The more seeders you have, generally means the faster the download speed will be.

All you do is click .torrent file, open it in a torrenting program (uTorrent) and then download.

If you are getting slow download speeds it means you either

1. Have a slow internet connection

2. Not enough seeders, or a too high seeder/leecher ratio (How many people are uploading the file versus how many people are downloading it. If you have too many people downloading it versus uploading it, you'll have a slow download rate)

3. Your ports on your router aren't forwarded- the most common reason for slow download speeds.

In order to forward your ports, you need access to your router's username/password. This is a website that'll help you get it set up if you know your router's manufacturer/model number.

http://portforward.com/

There are pictures and everything. You just find the manufacturer, go down to your model number and click it. Then find utorrent in the list of programs that appear in the next screen. Then just follow the picture instructions.

How does this torrenting system compare to, say, purchasing CDs from a reputable business? I have never tried it.

Depends upon your goal. If it's to enjoy a creative product and support the artists who created it, the reputable business model works great.

But if your goal is to enjoy the product and fuck the artists (and the hundreds who contributed to getting that product to the shelf) out of their money, then torrents are the way to go.
