What kind of flowers to get for 2 month girlfriend for Christmas?

So I'm in college, I've been dating this girl for two months. We didn't do Christmas presents but I've been planning on sending her flowers.

So does anyone have any suggestions for this situation? I have no clue what kind of flowers she likes and don't really have any way of figuring that out. As of now I'm looking at stuff online (i.e. 1-800-flowers) but I'm worried they'll be really shitty flowers so I might try calling places in her area?

Thanks in advance for any help

There is no such thing as shitty flowers. Women ALWAYS like flowers. Try some nice lilies or the classic dozen roses or what ever strikes your fancy in the shop. Calling a local shop is a good idea. Don't cheap out.

To Ralphs/Kroger/Publix, whatever. Find the cheapest bunch. Use the pre attached card, write "Heres to a promising 2010 - love, xyx" and your done.

Maybe even get a cheap, ahem... I meant "expensive reserve", bottle of wine and some rubbers. Your in dude.

1-800-Flowers works with a network of florists in your area who actually arrange the bouquet and delivery, so it is flowers by proxy in a sense. I agree with Davidko19, though - buy the cheapest and if you want to get fancy re-wrap them with some fancy ribbon.

Is there a problem with your local florist? Also remember that different flowers "represent" different "meanings". I was always under the assumption that flowers were flowers until you send someone roses and they think that means you love them....

If this bit about the roses is true then idk what to do. I'm in college...I live in Michigan and she lives in the Chicago area so my own local florist won't really work... As for 1-800-FLOWERS, I've been looking at these on there? $60 plus $15 for delivery. I know flowers aren't the place to skimp but I'm worried it won't really look like that. This is an interesting thing though, I'm actually going to Chicago tomorrow for a Funeral Tuesday morning. I'm not really sure if I'll see her or not because it's on the other side of Chicago from her and she's already babysitting all day and night tomorrow...but I might try to go to a local florist while I'm down there and see if I can find anything in person? I feel like a loser asking this but how much is a dozen roses usually? I've only bought shitty ones from Kroger (didn't really like my past girlfriends that much) and those are like $15 for a dozen. I know there's a big difference from the ones I posted but I thought a dozen in a vase was more like $35-$40 from a florist...

Call a florist local to where she is. They'll usually make a local delivery. I do this every year for mother's day. The quality is on par or better than most online shops, and they usually add a personal touch to your order. A dozen red roses should run anywhere from 20-30, depending on the locale. Don't get a vase, it's useless to her...unless you know she doesn't own one, which is rare. That's it. Call a local florist, ask for the best dozen red roses he has (tell him you're trying to get in her pants...I mean, impress her), and have them wrapped up with a nice ribbon. Most places will accept a credit card over the phone.

i just googled chicago florists. heres the first site that popped up http://chicago-florists.flowerpetal.com/ prices look better. "first snowfall" set looks nice. so is "holiday sweetheart" but that might depend on how close you are edit: nevermind. too many pine cones. also, it doesnt look like a local forist. just an online shop. go with the guy above me

Alright thanks a ton. Very valid point with the vase.

Alright I called around and the 6 florists in her area I talked to said it was going to be $70 for a dozen long stem roses in a box and $80 in a vase plus $15 for tax and delivery. One of them had a special for $50 for a dozen shorter roses (10 inch stems) in a vase with greens so I did that. Sent 6 red and 6 white (my mom agreed that a dozen roses kind of says I love you), she gets them tomorrow so hopefully it works. But thanks for everyone's help! I'm thinking that maybe florists jack up flower prices around Christmas like they do Valentines day

Yup, its also economical to buy roses at odd times during the year. $10 cash and carry long stems come in handy
