Changes to B&S discussion - SOLD BUMPS ARE BANNED - Page 11

I have no problem at all with a consolidation thread where new items are added. I too often have many threads going at the same time will multiple items and know how cumbersome it can be.

I was wondering about threads where somthing is for sale, then it's not for sale, then its sold, then not sold, each time bumping the thread or starting a whole new one. I don't get it.

I don't want to write an "I'm guilty of this too" post cause i don't feel guilty at all doing it. a seller like yourself should be no stranger to the wishy washiness of the B&S clientele. Comes with the territory of selling and its just the way it is, her, there everywhere. Stores have to deal with it too.

When someone pm's me I'll take it and I believe him, I update my post with SOLD!!!! in the body and title of the poast. (though, I've never done an "item sold" bump.)

Two days later not a word and dude disappears, or pm's me back saying he has to pay for his sick grandmother's kitty's emergency biopsy and can't buy it anymore, I update my post accordingly and may put it back to the top in the process.

Now, this is not a regular occurrence, but it does happen quite a bit if you consider all the sellers and all the flakes that inhabit our little world.

Agreed. I've certainly dealt with my share of whishiwashiness and I can empathize with this scenario.

When sellers withdraw their own items for sale and then relist them later at the same price or even higher (it's happened) that's kind of lame.

I think I'm more annoyed that this thread has managed to stay on the front page for the last several days rather than a sales threads. Admittedly, I've contributed to my own annoyance by this post.

same here. i dont get it. just relax. there doesnt have to be technicalities worked out between us because we cannot yield or budge for one another?
we're all friends here mostly, just take it in that light. if you do, perhaps you'll rethink your original resentments with all these small things.

The coolest part of this thread and the most interesting is the fact that since day 1, the poll has been stuck almost to the number at 60% for, 40% against. I mean it has been within 1% the entire time. Shows how actuaries make their money.

I did that at first, but no longer. I only mark an item "sold" if I've got the $$ sitting in my paypal account. Goes hand in hand with the "first to pay gets it" policy, which seems to do the job well enough, although like anything else, it ain't perfect.

You could just alter your sig to read 'new ties added daily' or something like that. Or encourage people to 'subscribe' to your listings. Just my 0.02.
