A while back we had a long threak about what is and is not ok here in the FS forum.
Sellers were given the ok to bump their threads when something from it was sold.
I personally never liked this because I felt it had no point. I think that FS should be announcing something is available, rather than something is no longer available.
It seems this is being used regularly as a means to just get your thread to the top again, and not as a means to inform buyers. Most sellers mark a (SOLD) next to an item when it sells, why does it also need announcing in a bump?
The other reason this should be banned is because someone that just wants to sell a single item get little chance to have their thread seen. Threads get moves from the front page too fast. Fundamentally longer threads get more opportunities to keep their thread at the top with "SOLD bumps". This is unfair to smaller threads.
My sense is that we need an adjustment to the policy here and ban the "SOLD bumps", they are unnecessary because:
I've included a poal to get a sense of what the community thinks.
**EDIT: my intention here is to question the practice of on bumping the thread only when something sells, not to announce a price drop, and then mention that XYZ are sold

My sense is that we need an adjustment to the policy here and ban the "SOLD bumps", they are unnecessary because:
- It makes sense to me that a NEW thread should get more time on the front page
- The sold marker should be on the item within the thread, its redundant to "announce" something sold
