DL PR today, 440 x 1 @ 167 lbs bodyweight.

Didn't really mean to pull 1RM today, but during my warmup singles I got that "fuck it, let's pull" -attitude. Thought I'd put a nice round number on the bar - 200kg being a magical number for me so I went for that. Some grinding but I locked it out.

Guess that means I just demolished my 2011 fitness goal of a 2.5bw dead. I foresee some heavy foam rolling in my future...

Looks good man. You can prob rig something up for squats, just make sure that motherfucker is safe. I CAN'T WAIT to buy my first house, for no other reason than I'm looking forward to putting together a home gym too.

How did you warm up for it? What do you generally dead? That's a good pull man.

Basically just the warmup I outlined here:

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...64#post4387764

First some general stretching and half-deads with the bar, then stretch out the hammies with weighted stretches, I just load up the bar with something light, like 110-130 and do RDL's slowly from the top - you get the idea. After that I'd usually do a few sets of 5 with gradually increasing weights, then something like one triple (or two doubles), then straight-up singles right up to my work sets.

For this one though, I was setting up for my work sets at somewhere around 340lbs but digressed from that and did singles right up to 400lbs or so. After that, my "top set" of 1

During a heavy wk, I usually do singles @ 390 or maybe 400, so I had no idea I could pull 440. Just gives me hope that I'm hopefully doing something right at the gym.

Nice pull TrH. Sounds like you are going to have to put 450 on the bar next time.

I bit the bullet and picked up the Ironmind one. Haven't had a chance to use it yet since I don't have low weight plates or dmb's.

Finally hit 1RM leg press at 1000 yesterday... (double-spotted) left knee not happy today.

Unexpected heavy night of drinking Saturday ruined plans for hitting the gym Sunday. What's the opposite of swole, coz that's what I am right now.

You have anything lined up in the States or you just gonna hang out and lift (aka what I've been doing since January)?

This is one of the more obvious, yet overlooked aspects of heavy drinking. It isn't just the relatively small window of booze debauchery that may pose problems. It's that more often than not, you're punting most or all of the following day as you recover.

Is there a correlation between body fat or age and alcohol tolerance? I am not super lean, but since I started lifting and leaning down, alcohol has really been able to put me down a lot harder than it used to. It's really bad now that I'm in a cut, 3-4 drinks and I am hungover for like 2 days

Yeah- bodyfat matters (really, total mass it what matters)... but realize also that you're eating less right now too so the ratio of alcohol in your intake is higher.

While going through UD2.0 as I am now, 2 glasses of wine kills me.

As to the hangover... I don't have that problem. I find the daily gallon of water makes all the difference in that regard.

I dead lifted after drinking 12 beers today, felt horrible.
It might be age, but at 25 I definitely cannot handle nights of heavy drinking as I was able to not even 2 or 3 years ago. And it's not even the hangover, since back then I would suffer in the morning and feel great after some greasy food. Nowadays its just a general feeling of weakness the next day that makes me feel shitty; like you just feel completely drained. Especially going to the gym, that's why I decided to take the Sunday off, re-charge, then hopefully have a good deadlift/back day tonight.
