Do you guys not eat vegetables and fruit? I don't really understand the thing with all these shakes.

Sure, its convenient, but what can't you just eat it? You lose the fiber by blending.

Also, don't really think greek youghurt is gonna make you less sick. Greek youghurt is basically just a less tasty yoghurt with more protein. While we are it I might add that the human body can barely digest seeds, so those healthy flax seeds are pretty much money in the drain. In Sweden they are also warned to be poisionous.

Yes plenty, but as ridiculous as it sounds, chewing all that shit up is work. It would be really difficult for me to "eat" everything I put in there as opposed to "drinking" it all at once… plus it tastes fantastic. As for the chia and/or flax seeds… I used the extractor blade to grind them into powder before adding so I don't think it's quite as "in & out" as you make it seem.

Out of curiosity, how does mashing it up in a blender lose the fiber, but mashing it up in my mouth does not? Never heard of that.

I'm a fan of spinach, but kale is probably good if not better… I should try it. Just got some blueberries yesterday so I'll add those to mine later after I get back from the gym. Good luck and Happy Prez Day everyone.

Its the mashed flax seeds specifically that the swedish national health/food organisation has warned about. Only 1-2 tablepoons of whole flax seeds per day and no mashed flax seeds at all. With google translate you can read about it here: http://www.livsmedelsverket.se/livsmedel-och-innehall/oonskade-amnen/vaxtgifter/cyanogena-glykosider-och-vatecyanid/

As for not eating a certain kind of food, I just don't understand it.

What do you mean? Meat tastes better than vegetables. The more veggies I eat, the less meat I can eat. Have to maximize stomach space, pretty simple.

Some may not like the taste of certain veggies that go into such smoothies, and the convenience factor matters (particularly if this is prepped for an on-the-go scenario).

Re: the yogurt, I don't think the Greek vs. regular matters so much as how well the live and active cultures in it survive. I recall somewhere a study of this that found many yogurts had far fewer of these intact than purported. However the protein and taste (I prefer Greek to regular; YMMV, and obviously does).

Skyrr is the real yoghurt hero.
I used to hate kale but now I love it, putting it in a blender sounds gross though. I can't stand "cooked" greens so blending it just seems like it would have a similar issue, I buy these 3lb bags of kale and spinach and go through 1 every 2 days.

I don't get how people hate/don't eat vegetables...

I got from somewhere, here probably, that everyone should eat a lb of vegetables everyday. That's actually pretty hard unless you buy frozen and make two packages everyday. A big case of spring mix or spinach mix is only half a pound and I definitely can't eat one let alone two a day.

The good news is that "vegetables" includes beans and legumes. If you simply add half a cup of frozen peas to 3 of your meals each day that's both extra protein as well as servings of vegetables. Or a can of beans to any meal.

And yeah, if you really don't like veggies, smoothies is a good option. Personally don't know how people can eat a meal without vegetables though.

I split it into half a lb of green vegetables (broccoli, kale, brussel sprouts, etc) for both lunch and dinner. Fruit after lunch and dinner. Quota filled.

It's a bit like saying, I hate ice-cream/wine/beer, you can't hate something that complex on a flat line.

Legumes made like fries in the oven, you can't hate that.

People hate veggies because they haven't been exposed to them prepared in a way that is tasty. If all you've ever had were steamed or creamed or wilted veggies, you aren't going to be very excited about eating them. My mother is vegetarian, and grew up vegetarian in India but wasn't when I was growing up, and made some awesome vegetable dishes with veggies that people generally hate (spinach, okra, broccoli, etc.), and as a result I really don't have any hate for vegetables in general. I wasn't really exposed to things like brussels sprouts or asparagus until I was an adult, but I kept an open mind (and frankly broiling asparagus with a drizzle of olive oil and some cracked pepper and kosher salt is delicious) and enjoy them

Asparagus, wrapped in foil with a drizzle of olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice. Throw in the oven for 5-10 minutes. Awesome!

As a Scot, I should really only consider white potatoes vegetables but I'm an anomaly
