Any rhet brahs know of a good linear algebra text book? Something like the stewart calculus book, but for linear algebra so not too much theory, more techniques. Needs to be up to jordan normal form so fairly high level. Bought linear algebra done right and it was absolutely shit for my purposes.

I don’t think I’ve really felt overtraining until I started with this. Maybe I am not eating enough but that’s a different discussion I guess.

some news for you: you're not overtraining with 4 sessions a wk

Anybody have a good pre workout foam rolling routine?

So, just koped some Gold Standard whey and GS casein.

Expensive as fuck but I've never taken protein supplements after high school. So in theory I should make more gains faster.

What do you guys think? My co-worker told me GS products are clinically tested to contain the advertised amount of protein in each serving.

Oh yeah, the casein is slow digest protein before going to bed.

i prefer protein powder that have a variety of protein sources in it (like casein, whey, egg protein combined). i dont like these casein only powders

How come?

different proteins have different absorption rates and different amino acids that are important for different things. it's probably best to get a mix of everything

"Casein takes longer to increase blood amino acids, but lasts longer, with elevated levels lasting over 300 minutes." Doesn't this reflects the idea of taking a casein shake before bed to combat muscle tissue cannibalization (sounds like bro science) during sleep?

Don't worry about digestion times or anything else like that. Minimal effect.

What you need to know about protein: all protein is made up of 20 different amino acids. 8 of these are "essential" - i.e. your body can't make one from the other. So you need to make sure your protein sources cover these 8. Whey protein is a complete source.

Forget about everything else and just buy the cheapest stuff you can stomach.

i dont think the cannibalization issue is as big as people think.

you just have to hit enough protein within a certain time period. the cannabilization part is somewhat true but you can more than make up for it. it's the same bad thinking as you should eat 6 meals a day because otherwise your body eats itself. somewhat true, but missing the bigger picture.

not all amino acids, essential or not, are the same. certain amino acids have different effects on protein synthesis. leucine for example found predominantly in whey has been shown many times to significantly increase muscle growth, but your body can only absorb so much whey at a time. otoh whey doesn't much glutamine that casein has lots of and highly glutamine levels have been shown to significantly increase muscle growth also.

saying it doesn't matter at all is as bad as it matters a shit ton. there's a good in-between balance to be had

i'm not sure if egg protein is necessary but mixing your whey and casein is a good idea and mixing with egg protein is probably a pretty good idea too

i wouldn't worry too much about it, but a mix of proteins is a pretty beneficial and scientifically proven thing to do especially if you're worried about "cannibalization". a mixture means AA levels of different types are constantly elevated versus only sometimes being elevated or being slightly elevated over a long period of time

Ok, I think I'll do half whey and half casein, and eat a bunch of egg whites plus Greek yogurt as as after work out meal. Then I'll take another shake with half and half before bed. Thanks, bro! It's been a while since I've taken protein supplements. I mostly just eat a bunch of meat, egg whites, soy, and Greek yogurt.
