Elbows tucked in, keep natural arch in lower back, shoulders down and flexed, bring bar to lower chest pass your nipple line. Rinse and repeat. Watch those gains!

I have a pretty decent flat bb bench and I feel like it does NOTHING for hypertrophy for me. Incline db press, reverse grip decline bench and decline power flyes seem to work well for me.

I'm terrified of reverse grip bench work...

And yah, my pecs respond way more to db bench and flyes.

I'm hoping to get up to a 3 plate dead and 2 plate squat for 5 reps. Bench will be harder i think, but I'm hoping to do 100dbs for 10 reps. Doubt ill jump to a 3 plate bench, but I'm hoping to be able to hit 275 or so for 5. It's going to be a long while though.

Hoping to hit all these by the time i leave work in June. I still have lots of noob gains left in me i think. Esp for squat.

It will be interesting to see what you do. How long have you been lifting? I would chill on the deads if you have back problems. IIRC you did.

I keep it light and use a medium grip. I do my sets with between 135-185 lbs.

How do you use them? Last movement? High reps?

I feel them the same way as guillotine presses but they never felt "right" to me. Moving to a basement gym full time though I'm looking for any way to add more variety.

I literally have no set program. I just do something heavy before i do them light weight high rep and literally try to touch the ceiling with the bar if that makes sense. I suppose I'm protracting my scapula at the end and squeezing my pecs hard.

Do you do a bb split in terms of the structure ie one body part a day
post #50543 of 57259
Yeah that makes sense. Also similar to how I train (1st movement "heavy" then rep work).
I just got my equipment tonight so I'm gonna start full time home training tomorrow, I'll do some rev grip benching and see how it feels.

My split doesn't make any sense. I do chest/shoulders, back/ shoulders, chest/ arms, shoulders/ arms based on what feels fresh. I have really been digging high rep 95 lb seated overhead barbell press on chest days and other weird stuff that makes no sense. Really I just figured out the movements that worked for me and help me build the physique I want while avoiding huge legs for multiple reasons. I don't know if I would recommend my program to anybody but it's basically years of figuring out movements that hit my muscles the way I want them to be hit.

db bench destroys my rotator cuffs. I don't bother with them anymore.

Since we're talking about bench, BOOM! 230! Fuckin a right. Just keeps going up. Maybe that's because I ate a metric shit ton of food this weekend. 20 more pounds to go for my 250 bench goal on this bulk. Squat's at 305, 45 lbs away, and haven't deadlifted in ages so no idea where that's at.

Weighing in at 193. Look much better than the last time I bulked up to 200 IMO so I'm finally doing it right.

What's everyone benching in here nowadays anyways?

It's weird. I hit a 315 dead at 155 so I'm sure it's just a matter of time now. The hex bar is weird. Thing feels solid and i have no issues in spite of surgery. I talked to a surgeon i work with who's going to be the next president of the north American spine society and he examined me, got a new mri, and was like "look, if you were a contact sport guy I'd clear you for full activity. You're fine. If something hurts don't do it, sure there's a risk/reward aspect so you need to keep that in mind".

The hex bar feels great to me and i think starting with that and then working in squats was the right order for me stuff it helped build a solid base.

I'm not going to go nuts with trying to add weight, but in the past i maxed out at 205 for FS and i was lighter. I think it'll come back fast.

Obviously preventing future injury is important, so i might end up staying lighter even if i hit those numbers. Ill definitely need to find something else to do either for exercises or what not. Sticking to the sane weights for a long time sounds boring, though i guess mixing it up could be fun. Who knows what I'll be into in the future.

Yeah bench press doesn't give me much hypertrophy either. If you look at my chest now, you wold not be able to guess I can bunch 290 @180 lbs.. It looks like I can barely bench 225. I used to do db bunch, flies, pull overs, incline, and decline to get da chest up! I just bench now to get it back to 300 again. I would love to bench 3 plates again.
