Random health and exercise thoughts - Page 3328

I agree with you, that's why I said to do it both ways if you want to train balance. One of the best exercises to train that muscle just happens to be lunges / split squats on an unstable surface. No need to do barbell squats on a tightrope or anything.

I get the argument for single leg stuff but to me the more compelling idea is training power in an athletically applicable manner, so balance is not much of a consideration.

Therefore, the only "single leg" training I do is sled pushes/prowler, and that doesn't really have a balance component. Of particular focus to me in this is that the hamstrings are stretched and contracted in a movement pattern with resistance added. Most hamstring injuries do not occur when going through a squat movement, they happen during some type of running.

Now obviously there are far better exercises for building the actual muscle (individually or compound movements), which is the first and foremost concern, but in terms of accessory movements a lot of the appeal to me of single leg stuff is motor pattern training and injury prevention - similar to how a pitcher might want to do rotator cuff work.

I would blow out my knees on a bosu ball. Id do goblet squats on one of the balance things at the gym, but honestly between doing these split squats and lunges balance is improving a bunch.

Can't go heavy enough with the ball due to risk of injury so it doesn't work for my goals here.

It's a secondary benefit. Primary is hitting legs hard and honestly these do a great job.

Got an offer from the firm I applied to. So sickening, straight to the buy side. Awkward I kind of agree with the efficient market hypothesis and don't think you can predict stock movements from fundamentals.

You can also just do single leg raises with a resistance band or something.

Are any of you able to do an L-sit and hold it for long periods of time? Any way to train it but take some strain off your wrists?

Girlfriend lost 30 lbs then fell off the wagon and gained a bit back. Now she wants to cancel her gym membership and get a treadmill. Why the fuck wouldn't you just keep doing the same thing you were doing when you lost the initial 30? WTF???

Also, 5 lbs away from a two plate bench. Fucking can't wait, pretty sure I've gone up a cup size brahs. 25lb gain on bench ain't no joke. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I'd be pretty upset if my girlfriend wanted to put a treadmill in our place. 30lbs loss is awesome, she probably put a bit back on because that's a lot of weight!

two plate bench, what's your rep PR right now? my bench goes up so slow, but progress is progress. I can do 4 x 10 with my 1RM from last year, that's progress but still my worst lift.

Girl i'm kind of seeing has lost 40lb in a few months through bulemia lel. Posted progress pics on fb and so many girls asking how she lost the weight "1200 calories a day" haha. Body looks so good now, but can't go on top because shes too fragile.

I don't understand what you're trying to suggest. What I'm doing is going to make my legs grow. My quads were pretty big when i was doing 3x10 185lb front squats. Now I'm doing the single leg stuff and I'm going to work up to 3x10 for 195 hex deads with the goal of either stopping there or moving to 245. Don't see point of going higher than that.

In other news my interview suit looks like shit on me right now. Arms are too tight, seat is too tight, waist needs to be let out, legs need to be let out...

I thrifted a suit in a bigger size the other day. It needs a little work, but i might have to do that tonight if i want to wear something that fits...

This is the girl i lost my virginity to back in the day, we're having a renaissance. Tesserect confirmed she was aesthetic.

I may buy new suits now, but growing too regularly for it to be worth it. Current ones are $50, but theyre cut ok so I dont really care.

Just remember to stay on gear so you can't get her pregnant.
