Found a pic of me looking constipated as fuck squatting 130. Missed this attempt though because I racked too soon.

Good stuff on the meet! I do notice from this pic quite a bit of assymetry, and whilst it is a 1RM so form isnt necessarily going to be optimal, it's worth investigating once you get back to training.

Also, I always enjoy the science you bring to the thread, coldsnap.

I've got a kindle and I'm gonna be traveling for most of December. Any recommendations for bodyweight training/fitness ebooks?

Ok, with the risk to sound ridiculous: I've just switched from Zercher squats to back squats and I find the pain where the bar lies on my back really uncomfortable, i.e. I even get a bruised stripe on my back over the traps.

Am I too sissy and this is just how it is, will this go away with time or can I do something to improve the base for the squats?

You're 100% right on the asymmetry. It's something I've been working on as I've noticed that occasionally when I don't use clips, some plates will slip away from the collar. I believe it's usually the right side. Been trying to be aware of this when I'm doing stuff like paused squats. Thanks for the kind words though!

EDIT: I've also been doing some unilateral movements (split squats), I think that should help too right?

How the hell can you find back squats uncomfortable when you're used to zercher squats ? uhoh.gif

Build up your traps. I couldnt hold the bar on my back without a bitch pad till I did that.

The whole "the pad totally ruins form" thing is BS though. Use a maxi pad as long as you have to.

I am quite assymmetric and have had some problems with it, like the hips swaying to the side when I squat and bench pressing unevenly.

Accessories, like unilateral stuff, will prob work a bit but from my experience the biggest differences come from lowering the weights until you can do the movement with perfect technique and then slowly build it up from there. The unevenness is at least most apparent for me the heavier I go.

Besides being a neural problem (eg. you've learnt to do the movement unevenly), it can also be a physical assymmetry. My hips used to be tilted to one side. Its a common problem and is usually explained by sitting too much, sleeping and sitting with tilted hips (like sleeping on your side) or just inactive glutes. Most assymmetries in the body seem to stem from uneven hips, so your problem could come from there.

There are a couple of different exercises you can do to align your hips (just google). Glute activation can also help (I have a harder time activating my left glute), as well as making sure you are equally flexible on both sides of your body.

My hips come down off-center when I squat (and wind up pushing more with that leg). Unilateral stuff didn't help at all... only thing that seems to work is to put conscious effort into bringing my hips down centered (which to me feels unnatural but playing back videos, looks centered).

I am very asymmetric as well. I feel like we had this convo before. I have found that a slightly wider stance on squats helps me keep shit balanced.

Omg took a pre workout for the first time before lifting with my cousins. Tweaking the Fuck out.

Cousin that power lifts taught me to bench properly. That was pretty awesome.

Nah that was a while ago haven't spoken to her in a while. Yeah I was quite worried, she was already drunk, nearly finished a bottle of whisky i brought her then quite a few valiums. Could easily have pressed rape charges. I'm thinking of trading now, if I do this financial engineering course and learn some coding I could probably trade something quite interesting. I'm not sure if a financial engineering masters is actually enough to do a real quant role, but I could easily trade with it.

70x5 72.5x3 75x2 on ohp today. Not amazing, but it's not a lift im good at so quite happy its going up. Having a day dedicated to it since im not training legs for a little while.

BLACKFRIDAY gives 35% off at the Prime Nutrition webstore. Makes the Intra-MD a really good price since we were just talking about intra drinks.

Next year I will slow roast and try and get the duck skin extra crispy. I think my oven runs hot.
