Starting to get cold and I'm dreading the day I can't train in my garage anymore and have to make the 45min drive to the Y 6 days a week.

I wish Isaora made more heavyweight cold weather gear.

Watching the "Warm ups" it seems like he is just used to his spotter sharing the load and rowing/curling it.

Even so, it seems like he was just expecting some kind of miracle.

Not sure how much of this was serious inquiry and how much of it was sarcasm, but I'll answer it seriously:

1. No one from IFBB. One guy used to do natural bodybuilding shows (will probably again later). He squats over 500 at 198 bw. Another used to do bodybuilding in Russia before moving to the U.S. and several girls/women who have done figure competitions.

2. The gym is exceptional and hardcore. As I mentioned, we have the highest concentration of raw elite totals in the area (and I'm bringing down the average single-handedly fml). The gym (Boss Barbell Club) is powerlifting specific. Dan Green is the owner, operator, and head coach. We have bands, chains, prowlers, sleds, a GHR, a brand new reverse hyper (it is fucking beautiful), cambered bar, SSB, buffalo bar, Okie and Texas squat/power/and deadlift bars, swiss bar, six combo racks you see at powerlifting meets, Dan's orange EFS power cage, a couple half cages, 5 oly platforms/rigs, a few deadlift platforms, 2-3 full sets of calibrated Ivanko kg plates in addition to all the iron and bumper plates in lbs, and probably a bunch of other shit I'm forgetting. The only thing we don't have is a mono, but no one there wants one.

3. The two girls who squat 300+ both compete in the 165 class (LOLSOFAT). There are also several girls who compete at 114 or 123 who squat over 200 (yw GraphicNovelty). Actually I don't think any of the girls CAN'T squat 200. I usually squat with them to minimize bar loading/unloading.

4. Yes, you're right. The majority of men cannot and will not ever squat 400+. In this sort of training environment, I hope to join the 400+ club some day.

Can't decide if I wana build a garage gym or park my car in the garage. I fucking hate going to my globo gym, so probably garage gym..

Couldn't get out for a workout yesterday or today. Going to Houston for work from tomorrow morning through sunday night.

I'll get a mini workout at the Hotel gym the next three days I hope. Should be do-able if I wake up early enough to knock it out. I feel gross.

Recent cooking

Beer can chicken







Sumai, those little cantonese pork and shrimp dumplings. Pain in the ass to make, had to mince 1kg of pork with a knife instead of buying ground pork because ground pork is too spongy.



They did assist me in pulling last night though, I was in the queue for a club talking to some girl showing her my cooking and the queue was really long so I just asked if she wanted to go back with me and have some dimsum. Had no oyster sauce though so they were kind of bland.

I slow cooked a pork shoulder in a neutral sauce of chicken broth and aromatics and had decided to save the braising liquid. At my local H-Mart I found Niboshi Dashi packets that had the dried sardines and seaweed in teabags. I filled up a pot halfway with water, threw in a packet, and just started putting flavors in: 1 tbsp Thai curry (I love curry ramen), 2 tbsp Soy Sauce, 2 tbsp Miso, 1 tsp Sesame Sauce some more salt and then the pork/chicken stock.

Cooked the eggs over slightly higher heat this time (made them less runny). Then cooked the ramen (fresh from my local japanese market) and topped with the pork, scallions, bamboo shoots.

4. Do whatever the fuck you want since it isn't a crossfit gym. The WOD (lol) will work for everyone except probably the newest beginners and the very top level guys. Seems like the latter is all about low reps, super high intensity, really long rest periods and no accessory work.

How does grip width affect you guys pressing... I noticed today a narrower grip enabled me to push more, which is kinda counterintuitive to me as I have somewhat long arms

Yeah, mirin your cooking ambition.

I've eaten the same meals every day for like a month. Only change my lunch slightly every week. Don't have any problem with it really, because the meals taste pretty good and they're all cooked by myself, but they're obv not on the level of yours.

Good (or bad) part is that I am currently still growing at 2,800cals and 203lbs, so I don't have to eat copious amounts of the boring shit (but I also don't get to eat much of the good stuff). Putting 90% of my carbs in and around the workout I've been able to make better progress than when I was eating 3,500 cals a day.
