Random health and exercise thoughts - Page 3199

Bench progress has been really good lately so I can't bitch too much about my knees.

Today was the heaviest day since last meet in May, and I got 3x3 on 2 inch board presses with 225 lbs, which is 10 lbs over my bench PR from that meet.

225 bench has been one of my goals for a long time so it felt kind of weird breaking it by something as undramatic as 3x3 board presses in training.

I haven't done 225 in a regular paused bench press yet, but considering todays performance I think I am good for 230 or so.

Yup I got an inzer and romaleos. Probably will grab a titan singlet down the road though. Its between an inzer or apt or wrestling singlet right now.

Nervous about my first meet but I found put surprisingly there are a lot of lifters in my weight class.

When's the meet? Did you start peaking for it?

November 15th. I planned my sheiko cycles to match up with the meet date. I'll probably try my own programming after the meet though.

For some reason I thought you had done your first meet already?

I have no idea how much you know about meets or what you've read, but this is what I learnt from the guys in my club:

- Make sure you have practiced with all commands and signals before. Do not miss lifts because you didn't know how the commands work.

- Find out what flight you are in and exactly when the first lifter of the flight starts his first lift. Then find out when its your turn in the flight.

- If you are in the first flight, start warming up 15-20 min before.

- Warm up with few reps in first sets, and only singles at 60-70% and above. Only warm up to 5-10 lbs under your first attempt. Do not rep out or go too heavy in the warm up, or do the same weight twice.

- Open very light, say your 3-4RM or even 5RM if you're feeling shaky. Do not go too heavy on second lift. Aim for PR only the third and strive to get 9 for 9 since its your first meet.

- Are you lifting for a PL club or are some other people from your gym / people that you know going to enter? Ideally, you should have some kind of coach there who put in your numbers, estimate how much you have in you for your next attempt, and that yells pointers and cues when you lift. Its also good to have some other lifters who's got your back and that you can warm up with.

- Bring some easy to digest snacks or food depending on how long the meet will be, mostly carbs. Mine lasted for 6 hours from weight-in until last deadlifts so I brought a meal, some chocolate and fruits and a carb shake.

Thanks for the info concept. I'm lifting with the club at my school.

There's a lot of really strong and experienced lifters who are all very helpful. This meet is actually run by our club

Alright, then you're in good hands.

I almost thought that would be the case since you lift in IPF. Its very well organized.

1 candy bar = probably half an hour of cardio for you

If eating is the source of your weight gain you have to figure out how to stop eating so much.

Some things that help logistically...

- Eating bigger, healthier meals less frequently
- Breaking routines/habits where you have snacks regularly
- Drink a shit ton of water... like seriously half a gallon a day (and stop drinking sugary drinks, even fruit juice)

Etc

Its also possible some psychological/emotional issue is causing you to eat

Ultimately though you have to figure it out, come up with a plan and execute, there's no magic pill. If there were we'd all be shredded

Sibutramine is a fantastic appetite suppressant, but if your actually fat your probably eating for emotional reasons in which case appetite suppressants wont do shit because your not eating because your hungry.
