Random health and exercise thoughts - Page 3186

Lurker check-in:

I was on 5/3/1 BBB through the spring and summer, but got inconstant in late June through mid July for various reasons. Decided to try the Norwegian HFT that conceptionist posted a while back as I needed a break from 5/3/1. Ran that for six weeks, adding 5 lbs/week. Also I weighed about 185 and wanted to hit 200. Though I was running to to gain, HFT clean up a lot of deficiencies. I really liked it, felt good with the volume. I'm back on 5/3/1 but running the Full Body program as I want to cut down to 180 before wrestling season starts at the beginning of November (wife's gym is also having a "meltdown challenge"). Current working 1RMs are 370, 295, and 460. Thanks again conceptionist for that HFT post.

Lol I thought these type of squat heroes only existed on the internet (like here)
Im still yet to see any in real life

Think of like calling clips its just what gangsters do. It's a silly reason to quit the show. SSSSSSssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I only know it's not a clip because some angry corporal reamed me out when I called it that on basic years ago. I think I had to leopard crawl up a hill or something. Hilarious.

Don't really see the big deal though. It houses rounds. You put it in a pistol and shoot stuff.

That said, when people say "I could care less" I have the distinct urge to punch them in the face, so I understand being pedantic about certain things.

Created a new high protein, low carb, low fat ice cream base that resembles ice cream much more then what I was making before. Will post pics next time I make i, just did rasberry vanilla, might try a chocolate one later. Contains no protein powder. Could prob make it a bit heavier with some casein.

Raspberry ice cream had these macros

680g
444 cal
8.8 fat
47.6 carb
40.7 protein

I've always thought it was I couldn't care less?

It is. I cringe when it's stated incorrectly.

In my humble opinion, shooting up ass first is not a sign of back weakness/tightness but rather a sign of leg strength not being sufficient.

When your legs can't support the upright torso angle coming out of the hole, the body reverts to the stronger position, which in this case is a forward leaning back-finishing position. If his back would have been the weakness, he would certainly not been able to finish the squat in that super back heavy position, the back would've given up.

For instance,
Olympic weightlifters have insanely strong quads - their front squat is relatively close to their back squat. They can maintain the upright torso.

The forward leaning powerlifter squatter pretty much always has a much worse front squat to back squat ratio and can not maintain the upright torso position in the squat, especially not the front squat.

Imo: leaning forward, ass shoots up = weak quads. Train quad strength with front squats and OL squats where you force yourself to stay upright.

Also, about that back tightness:
If you look at how OL-ers train their back squat, they look way more relaxed and not as tight as powerlifters when they squat. It looks more casual. Still, the OL-ers post huge squat numbers, very close to raw PL records and the OL-ers does so with a more relaxed, but upright torso.

I do like high bar squatting and not spending 30 seconds like twisting the bar and shit to get tight. Just walk under it and drop down, feels good man.

Lol, hope I don't come across as too academic. Studying for my masters degree reading journal papers all day so my head is kind of stuck in that academic language and mindset.

I don't even know whether I'm doing high or low bar anymore, I just put it where it feels most comfortable and go for it.
