Planning on doing my first competition this December, my powerlifting club said I for sure will medal because I still qualify for sub-junior and there's barely anyone in my weight class.

Yesterday was glorious. Was in Newfoundland for meetings and finished up on Tuesday thus leaving me with a full day on my own yesterday. Started the day by practicing yoga in my hotel suite followed by a training session in the hotel gym. Did a little sightseeing and such midday, but returned to the gym late afternoon followed by another round of yoga. Arose early this morning for a quick training in the gym before my flight home. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gificon_gu_b_slayer[1].gificon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

That must be pretty boring tbh.
What fed?

The best thing for the US scene imo, would be of there was USAPL, then one other fed that didn't do drug testing, and lastly one more for multiply. I'm not a big fan of non drug tested, and I don't follow multi ply at all but those guys need somewhere to go anyway.

We only have IPF here and the competition was tough at the local meet I did in May. Some guys did around 1300 lbs raw w/o wraps in the 231 class, IIRC

My back is coming back slllllllllowly. Been using a heat pad. So I've been doing nothing but bench, pull ups, weight side bends, and taking long walks in the neighborhood.

Benched 225x6 235x5 245x4 then burned out on 225 for a few sets. Chest is almost back to 44 inches again before the cut. But haven't been able to 1RM more than 275 lately. Goal = 3 plates.

^^what happened with your back?

I suspect bad form on sumo deads a few days before the back spasm. Woke up with a stiff back. Did some squats. Didn't hurt until later that day.

IPF I believe. All competitions are under CPU which is under the IPF.

I also agree it'll be a pretty boring meet but it'll be nice to not have too much pressure and just focus on getting 9/9. Hopefully there's more competition for my weightclass for the Junior level.

Braised top round ropas viejas style (though I'm not super into this recipe), this time with brown rice and black beans instead of quinoa (I didn't like how quinoa freees)

Each bowl was 750 cals, 35/45/20 P/C/F ratio and cost about $5.50 in ingredients.

Also, since I was making black beans and rice anyway...

I've been finishing my leg days with 5 x 5 front squats with a 5 count pause at the bottom. You think that's excessive? Would I get the same training effect with a 2 or 3 second pause?
Figured if run pauses for 4 sessions, chains for 4 sessions, standard for 4 sessions, bands for 4 sessions, repeat.

Its impossible to say if you're training effect would be better if you would have done it differently. Only way to know would be to go back in time, do it over again and then compare the results.

Also, what is your goal? To build mass or to get strong as in bigger 1RM? Because I would change my programming between the two.

Either way, only training legs once a week (which I guess you do since you wrote "leg day") is proven to give worse results than 2-3 times a week for naturals, so that'd be my first change if I were you. I have some other things in mind that you could try (from how my programming looks), but the most important thing is to train for your goals.

No, I train twice a week. I have 2 leg days. One loosely based on strength (straight sets, lower reps, less volume), the other more hypertrophy (drop sets, forced reps, partials, higher volume etc).

M - Legs

T - Push

W - Pull

Th - Conditioning

F - Lower (basically legs)

Sa- Upper

Su - Conditioning

repeat

Both days I finish with front squats, the reason I've been doing paused is because I just don't like going over ~8 reps on front squats, it just doesn't feel good to me. No pain or anything, I just feel like it's better suited for lower reps, so the pause is a way to make a lighter weight feel heavier and also to make me more aware of staying tight in my upper back. I've been using a 5 second pause because I feel like I should exaggerate it to take the stretch reflex and momentum completely out of it. I know 5 seconds is a long ass time, but I kind of feel that if I don't take that long then it's not "enough" and I'm not getting the full effect. So with that in mind, would you think that all 3 seconds would achieve the same effect (taking all momentum out of it and forcing me to stay tight)?

Yes lol. You're only changing how long you're paused.

I might start doing this to db bench, i.e. paused reps. I don't want to increase weight any more but this will still ensure growth.

What are people's thoughts on alternating arms for db bench work?
