Any of you guys have to deal with fixing poor glute activation on one side? I had a hip injury about 2 years ago, and the period of time where I was favoring that side pretty heavily seems to have left me with: 1) Lots of tightness in the small muscles in there (which I can fix through stretching) 2) Overuse-related fatigue and aching in my lower back on that side because my back and hamstrings are taking up the slack. I'm doing glute bridges and similar sorts of movements before my heavy leg lifts, and I can definitely feel that's changing the balance of effort between low back/glute/hamstrings but I want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.

I think you might be overreacting to some things...

They were prob on a program that didn't work, saw your progress and wanted to know if/what you were doing different.

I hate to think that they are watching me and thinking "That asshole is just trying to show off." Maybe I'm projecting my own insecurities? But seeing other people's abilities has driven me to push harder, so perhaps I'm helping instill some drive in others? Anyone else ever think about this?
I think you're projecting. People would more likely be saying "look at this asshole" if you were lifting more than you could w/terrible form. I know I do...

It's a 6lb bag for 30 bucks and has a good amount of whey... 88 servings and 27g protein per serving. Its 130kcal, 2g fat, 3g carbs per serving. I can live with that.

Not saying its the best shit, but when I stress nitty gritty, its not with the type of whey I'm using.

I see. I have never seen the MM for Costco before. I do have to admit, MM tastes the best out of all the shakes that I have had, especially the cookies n' cream one.

This times one fucking million, I know a couple lazy fuckers who are militantly anti-weightlifting and always drop that bomb on me. Hurrr... I know, I'm "lucky" to bust my ass in the gym and eat properly. This one pisses me off.

^Fuck. That. Yeah I've always been naturally smaller but that doesn't mean metabolism. For fuck's sake, just to avoid a paunch I've always eaten somewhat healthy - to look better I cut and exercise 5-6 tims a week. Just moved down a belt notch, WHOO.

Also, is it true Optimum Nutrition changed their double chocolate flavor and it's awful now? PLEASE GOD NO IT WAS SO TOLERABLE.

Feeling fairly comfortable with deadlifts, feel like my form is improving and I've been keeping the weight low while getting things situated. Although still paranoid I look like a fool doing them since I'm so new.

If you're making progress in the gym, appearance is inconsequential. I personally love to go to the gym in my comfy dingy shorts and cheap pit stained Hanes tees w/a little B.O., and outlift damn near everyone in sight. I mean at the end of the day, all that matters is moving more weight this week or month than you did in the last period, IMO anyway. -------------------------------------------------------------------- DL'd Tues night, met a powerlifter + one of the only other dudes at my gym moving any serious weight. He did a pull of 455x2 I think. Refreshing to talk serious lifting with somebody in person, def kind of wish I had some lifting buddies.

Was at the gym the other day an there was a big dude repping out 465 or something in the deadlift, rounded back, not deading the weight at all and I was like "man, that guy is damn strong, I wonder why his technique is so fucked up?" Then, he moved on to front squats which he executed with such perfect, olympic style ATG form that it brought a tear to my eye and made my shorts raise with envy. This of course made me even more confused as to his shitty DL form.

I actually kind of want to step up my gymwear game a bit. I spend time there, why not be swagged out?

I'm midway through my week away from lifting and my shoulder is at that point where it doesn't ache, but I feel like it would start to after doing any sort of heavy lifting. I'm not sure it'd be smart to start lifting again next week.

Kerrick, try doing clams like so: http://www.physioadvisor.com.au/asse...6(300x300).jpg (wfs - i'm pretty sure)

Do it before and after your workout and in good time you should be back in good shape.

Gym swag = lifting heavy shit

I wear dirty as all hell lifting shoes (in a buffalo plaid), whatever Tshirt I can find (generally $10 race T-shirts) and shorts or track pants. Kinda need to buy the huge deadlifting socks so I can stop wearing track pants when it gets warm.
