What do you guys think about goblet squats? I've been doing those exclusively lately (as opposed to other squats).

What do you use for them? Db's or kb's? The issue is that you can't really go super heavy with them. Outside of that, why do you do them? Have you progressed on them at all?

I was told "ass to grass."

It honestly depends on the fed you compete in.

Some feds will green light everything, others don't even think about it until you're a good 3-4" below parallel.

If you look around and ask different federations or even check their web sites if they have one you should be able to find a meet with a fed that you would be fine in.

DBs. My gym doesn't have heavy enough KBs. Yeah, I seem to be. I am doing 100lb DB now. Not sure how high I could go though since I'd be holding a DB. Also not sure how much I could do now with a regular squat...I should see. I find them easier and more accessible than using the squat rack. Most of the time it's taken at my gym.

Oh and most of the time it's taken by someone squatting above parallel. I saw a guy load up the rack and go down like a foot each time. He wasn't even at parallel.foo.gif

Going to a flower market to buy me some aesthetic orchids for my flat. Also getting some long 1" pipe to thread so I can stick all these plates I got for chins on it and do some rows when im bored. Orchids, barcelona chairs and swole DBs, flat is gonna be in harpers bazar or some shit soon.

I do goblet squats out of convenience. 80 lb db is what I hold, ass to grass. Did a few sets earlier today.

Aim for the stars because if you miss you'll land on the moon

That's horrible. I had my brother go through something similar. He got better with yoga and overall stretching and reshaping of those muscles.

Good luck man!

I like them. I used to do them. I have no prob holding a 120-130lb DB but I was reaching the end of the DBs with them. I am frustrated as hell with front squats... thinking about switching to dip belt squats and saving my pennies for an Ironmind hip belt. But yea I think squatting with the weight out in front of you or not loading your back as a quad blaster is a great idea. I get more of a quad pump from light front squats than heavy back squats

Fuck. My right knuckles are all fucking busted, hopefully just a bad bruise and no breaks. Riding my father in laws bike and the right handle bar literally just snapped off and I basically punched the road haha wtf.

Cool, cool. Ass to grass is the way to go. The reason I ask is I have literally seen no one at my gym do them since I've been here (then again I don't see many people squat). I agree though, they definitely blast your quads.
