problems with receipt of the barbell, either with the position or timing, or both. if the bar loops - you get swamped, likewise if you don't know how to receive the bar. unlike what some poster opined earlier, receiving a clean should not be uncomfortable, at least if you do weightlifting frequently.

Gonna start trying to up the weight over the coming weeks. Would like to see if I can get up to 545 or so by the end of August.

Did my first meet on the weekend. Went 9/9 and PRed in all three lifts (sorry about the potato-cam).

Great fun all around, I heartily recommend giving it a go if you're on the fence.

I can see my post can be misunderstood, catching the clean should be uncomfortable, but the rack position, when you have caught it isn't a pleasant position.

Jarude wrote something about swimming only 2 years late.

Great man! Solid numbers and technique looks good in all lifts. Smart to pick manageable attempts and go 9 in your first meet too.
I'm hoping to get something like those numbers next year.

Jarude were you a swim instructor? It's what I'm doing right now as a part time job. I love swimming but stopped doing it competitively recently because it takes too much time and I wasn't on par with many. Being a swim instructor keeps me in the water though with free access to city recreation centers. I still like to get a nice swim in every so often.

Took about a month break and just got back to the gym. My routine is pretty minimalist nowadays(not too many accessories) because I just want to stick to a 3 day program but might switch to a 4 day if I'm not so lazy.

Squat dropped 10lbs, Bench 15lbs but DL didn't change.

@Aidan K

Yeah good work. Only thing that immediately caught my attention was how many steps you took to get ready to squat.

Thanks! I was pretty fortunate to have someone experienced along to help with picking attempts and deal with handing in cards and stuff, and we had a good plan going in so everything went smoothly.

Good luck, im sure you'll do great!

Thanks! I have been working hard on my pre-lift routine for a while, trying not to take too many steps and being more consistent with where they go. It is improving believe it or not, but slowly. Ive been watching Mike T videos, every rep looks exactly the same from a setup point of view.
