also tomorrow last day at work before my three wk holiday, after that it's straight off to grad school. have to try to recruit some trainees for a pub crawl, at least two of them are eason level hot.

How many of you do Bulgarian split squats?
And what kind of strength do you have compared to squats?
I've used them for a while as a pump movement (10-15 reps) and was using the 80's. Today I decided to go for sets of 5 and was pretty surprised how high I was able to go.

I have them programmed in after my Squats, 3 x 10 with 50lbs, I can barely walk when I am done. I definitely feel that they've helped increase my mobility and added some nice size to my quads...

Yeah. Out of everything I do in the gym i dread Bulgarians the most. There's something about doing a set of 12 and then having to do it again for the other leg that just messes with my head.

TFW it's so damned hot the chalk dissolves on your hands.

TFW you misload your deadlift and waste a session of LP. (I need to keep a paper notebook so I don't screw up like this again.)

I used to do them a while back.

Absolutely dreaded them in every way.

 

Nowadays I do backward lunges standing on a box (front leg elevated). I use way less weight, like today I used a barbell with 50 pounds, but it works my balance more and uses a larger ROM.

110lb DB's? I do walking lunges and split squats for my legs (as well as goblet squats). Even light weight, they totally totally suck. My longest workouts because it takes me so long to convince myself it's a good idea to do them.


I should do them more. I'm up to doing 4x12 (1rep is both legs) with 50 lb dbs. It hurts. The struggle is real.

At the end of a squat workout, high rep walking lunges are the fucking worst. I feel like a fat guy who had to climb 5 flights of stairs.
