Thanks for your input. The reason I ask is I've been watching a lot of youtube fitness community's videos on gains. It seems like they are testing for 1RM every few weeks. Back in high school, I was doing 1RM once every two to three weeks. But, I guess that was all bro-science. Are there any reasons why you shouldn't be doing it so often?

Risk of injury
Higher risk of failing on sets
Requires a spotter
Not enough volume for growth
Form breakdown

1) Testing 1RM is very taxing both physically on the body and mentally on the CNS. You can't perform very good afterwards.

2) It risks injury.

3) It is testing strength. You want to spend most of your time building strength.

You have to remember I have been doing a total bro bodybuilding split but I'm super thick right now. I am going to maintain for 8 weeks and then do a deca cycle and see how crazy. 2 grams of test a week feels in my body. If I don't have at least a 405 bench by New Years id be surprised. While I am cruising in Doing an 8 week mobility mesocycle while maintaining weight and my 1rms for my lifts. September I'm going to be a hormone filled psycho. I figure if I can get past 405 I'll get a bench shirt and attempt to hit some records.

My squats a joke I have knots and muscle spasms from my Iliac crest to my tfl to hip flexors to it band down to my calf on the left side. also by piformis seizes up when I hit depth so my lower body is atrophying badly.

It's just the way I like to train. I honestly can't remember if I've ever failed a 1RM. I let my training tell me when it's time to do that and I do it, otherwise its 2-5 rep PRS on heavy weight. I think there's a lot of successful powerlifters that max out a ton, but I just find this a better way to train.

I'm sorta salty that my best total right now is in the middle of training. I should have taken 10 weeks and properly peaked and gotten a decent total, but I wanted to go right back into more cycles.

Flat bench 10x135
10x225
10x275
2x315
1x335
1x345
22x225

Then I supersetted dips and decline flyes with kettlebells until I was fried and then ended up doing around 7 or 8 sets of bicep curls ranging from 50lb dbs to 70lb dbs from 20 reps down to 8 reps and then i just finished off with 30lb DBS for max reps which was in the 30s. also there we're a bunch of skullcrushers in there.

I work up to within 10% of my 1rm every time I squat. Today I went 130x15, 150x10, 160x4 170x2 180x1. 190 would have went up, but I thought i'd save it for the weekend. Did a bunch of lunges and good mornings with 50kg after. Forearm and calf cramped up hard during the 180x1, struggles of that office life.

the body is so fucked up. i have forearm splints from a back issue

Thanks guys. I think I've been watching too many youtube broxercise videos. I'll go back to my routine and prolly won't max until I've been on the program for at least 6 months or so.

Yeah, regularly doing 1RM's is a stupid idea, unless your goal is to fuck up your body and burn the fuck out.

Also, brown rice has more nutrients than white rice, no? Pretty sure that's true.
