Well in that case, no, that's not what tut is in reference to.

I mean, sure, slow negs are one way to increase tut but the common route is just more reps.

oing higher rep sets gets you to that needed volume faster than doing low rep sets. So in theory, maybe the hypertrophy could be the same for 3 sets of 10 as 10 sets of 3, with proper percentages used for both alternatives. Its just that 3 sets of 10 can be done in 10 minutes while 10 sets of 3 would take me 30 minutes.

There's the argument that higher rep sets lead to more lactic acid build up (which is good for hypertrophy) and that longer sets have higher time under tension. The latter has been debunked by Eric Helms of 3DMJ. I don't know much about the science of the lactic acid build up though. Long time under tension with the main lifts has other benefits, both those are more linked to technique and positioning.

Also, I'm not sure you need to go as high as 10-15 reps. Mike Tuchscherer doesn't seem to prescribe over 5-8 reps in his volume phases and my program hasn't gone over 8 reps with the powerlifts. I could be wrong, but I think 10-15 reps is too far removed from doing a single and that you could be better off by just doing more sets of 5-8 in this case.

Yea, I hear ya. 10 x 3 with heavy %s would drain the shit out of me.

Citing all the studies is great to support your point. But at the end of the day, you just gotta lift to get stronger.

Yeah that's the point. It's just a discussion, nobody is claiming they are Godzenegger.
I think we'd all agree that training is fun and we all want to be bigger stronger and leaner, there's 100 ways to get there and they all involve lots of heavy lifting.

Was high bar squatting today pretty near my max, using my sickening asian mobility to go atg. Usually start off beltless doing paused triples increase the weight till I can't pause, then doubles, then singles, add a belt and maybe go for a heavy single. Around about when I was using a belt so around 4 plates some guy asked me if I had ever tried maxing out because "you can get another 5-10% from maxing out". Is this fucking final fantasy 7? Is maxing out like my limit break or something? I don't just decide to like max out and suddenly have like a 450 squat. Also front squatted 120kg beltless with someone counting a 5 second pause so I couldn't cheat.

I don't really look into the science of my lifting very much, just lift often, quite heavy or at least heavy for the rep range and high frequency. It's not like your going to get some massive boost in hypertrophy going if you add some drop sets for additional tut.

Rhet diagnosis needed. Been having really awful diarrhea randomly up to 3x a day. I drink a lot of alcohol and eat shitty food and don't sleep enough and don't work out anymore (this is all temporary) obviously that all has something to do with it, but will i die?
