Oh shit, we are at the same weight. What's your height? I'm 5'7". I'm trying to get down around 165 within the next month or so. I wasn't kidding about stopping curls and skull crushers. I figured I rather be developing my legs and core strength than have big arms. I would like to focus more on squats and deadlifts. Bench press used to be my weak sauce until I went all out and benched 4 times a week but short changing all other work outs. Now, I just want to have overall strength without looking like Spongebob. :D

I want to get a home gym, but I need a home first. I do have a little $100 squat rack for wifey. I will get a cage for the house though.

Thanks, bro! Damn, 10 lbs?! That much?! I wish my wife would squat. I like that squat booty!

I'm 5'7" too. I don't think I'll ever get down to 165, I've actually been up to 205 my first year of lifting. I'm 175 now, but i miss my leverages I had at 200lbs. So my goal is to get back up to 190-200lbs without being fat. HAH, that will probably not happen but it's nice to dream.

I bench a lot more often now though, def not 4x a week

Best of luck with your goals and keep us updated!

I would like to stay around 170 without having too much body fat. I would like my bench to be back at around 300 but I don't nearly bench enough to get it up there. I would also like my squat to be around 350 and deadlift to be around there, too. How did you lose the weight? Did you stop training for a bit?

5'6" and 165 right now, down from 172 two weeks ago. Want to get down to 160 before going back to maintenance to end up around 165 hopefully leaner than this.

I'm 5'7 and my long term dream goal is breaking 200 at sub 10% bf, which would prob be 30-40 lbs of muscle haha

Holy crap! Don't take this the wrong way, but that's A LOT of muscles to put on. Are you planning on to be on the sauce?

Just a dream goal. No idea if I'd start pinning, once I lose my hair I'll start thinking about it. And FWIW I just broke 200 for the first time in my life on this last bulk, and it was a dirty one.

Nope, I actually trained harder. Just dropped calories, started taking ephedrine, and did 45mins of cardio every day. Did standard 1 lb weight lost a week from 198-174, still added 50lbs to my squat 50lbs to my deadlift and 30+lbs to my bench. I was lifting really hard though, sorta taking a break from that right now. Was killing myself.

Ummm... You got that article the wrong way around. Its actually about how bodybuilders could benefit from powerlifting training.

Still, every powerlifter can successfully use higher rep hypertrophy based training at the very start of a new training cycle towards the meet. Its nothing new or groundbreaking. Its just block perioidization. That doesn't mean the powerlifter should go full bodybuilding, ditching barbell bench for dumbbell bench and having a bicep only session. It still needs to be specific to the powerlifts.

My all time max:

Bench = 320. Currently = 265.

Squats = ?. Currently = 295 (I got chicken legs! lolz)

Dead lift = 0. Currently = 295

Lat pull down = ?. Currently = 250 at 6 reps.

Military press = ? Currently = :puzzled:

Curls and skull crushers = forgot. Currently = I stopped working on arms, rather spend time doing the 12 oz. curl. :embar:

Current weight 175 with oh god, I don't even wanna know % body fat. :fu:

Just started another round of dieting. So far, 5 lbs. of weight lost over 3 weeks. It's gonna be a long one...:hide:

Barrel, I wouldn't do single rep maxes. They're not worth the trouble. I'd also up the rep rate a bit if you're so inclined.

Also, lifting your arms etc doesn't take away from the bigger lifts. Just do them after you're done the other things if you want to. Dont forget to do ab stuffs!

Also also, your deadlift is probably going to be a bunch higher than your squat.

Fuck was so surprised when you were asian. Back photos you looked white. You look like you deadlift more then 285, like mid 400s, your back isn't that much smaller then mine and I pull just over 500 at 210lb.

progress pics from a little while back.

5'7" 200lb sub 10% bf isn't going to happen natty, that is fucking huge. Like you would be competitive in the NPC. Chris jones is like 180 at 10% at that height and is huge.

I lift from home and it's probably the best feeling ever. Actually building a platform at my friend's place in his backyard to move everything outdoors. Should be fun.

Adding in a few pics... REALLY bad pic of myself maybe ~3 years ago? I look extremely thin and unhealthy. I don't really have pictures of myself on hand, but my gf found this one and I was kinda thrown back. I knew I was thin before, but didn't realize how thin until I saw a picture.

Other pics are from last week. My gf and I participated in a cool Nike event last weekend that had me hooked up to a vo2 mask and doing a bunch of exercises. Wasn't told that it'd be in front of spectators, but was cool. Food, beer, and Nike stuff for my sweat.

Sadly they didn't measure vo2max which was what I was most interested in. All they measured was heart rate, vo2, and how they calculate all that into "Nike fuel".

Workout consisted of:

3 min run/sprint split on treadmill
3 min ride/climb on stationary bike
Static yoga pose for 30 seconds
Pistol squats for 40 seconds
KB swings for 30 seconds
Squat with KB for 40 seconds
Burpees for 30 seconds

Something like that with no break. Felt very crossfitty and weird, but I was sweating at the end so all good.

I have a home gym, basic but workable. I'll post a pic after my workout today (legs). Had some Eleiko plates that were defective so I am short on weight right now but the new plates should be here on the weekend (eleiko = 2x20 2x15 2x10 (all kgs)). Most everything else is from Rogue (crossfit outfitters but for the price it was the best around) with a few things from Elite (chains, ez bar, landmine + attachments etc).

The only things I REALLY want are some heavier db's - I have 30, 35, 45, 65, 75, 85 and then a pair of 53lb kettlebells. I need some 95's, 105's and 115's. A trap bar or some farmers carry handles would be awesome, as would a hack squat and a cable station but shit is way too expensive. But in the meantime when I train at home I just do more barbell work, go to the Y maybe 2 times a week the rest is done at home And more volume since I don't have a ton of options. Lots of cluster sets and stuff.

The juggernaut article that was posted (Coldsnap I think?) through me off after the first section though. Saying powerlifters have better technique than bodybuilders is just a little.... irrelevant. They are too different. Powerlifters adopt techniques for powerlifting (movements rather than muscles, multiple bodyparts to move as much weight as possible, the entire body as one muscle etc), bodybuilders isolate the shit out of a single muscle, focus on contraction and stretch and adopt the technique that allows them individually to get the best contraction and make the weight feel as heavy as possible. Nobody is going to throw up a red light if you're above parallel in a bodybuilding gym.

Wow. Only been riding for about a week, and my energy is way up. I feel great. Cardio is not bad at all. I kinda missed it.
