Yeah, that was my plan.  TBH it doesn't get you a lot here either, I just got fairly lucky.

I agree with the points @GraphicNovelty made.  The areas in Brooklyn that are cheaper than an average Boston place are going to be way shittier.  The cool areas of Brooklyn ie: Greenpoint/Fort Green/Williamsburg are not cheap at all: 1 bedroom in the 2500+/month range.  Depends where your office will be located but the neighborhoods recommended above are probably a better value.

For 1200 as a share of a 2 or 3 br you can do pretty well for yourself in any of the areas I mentioned. I pay 1950 w/ a roommate for a big (by nyc standards) 2 br in washington heights ina not-shithole building,

Moving today, not enough functional strength to walk my mattress down the road.

You're gonna want to look at areas in South Brooklyn then. Areas to check out are Prospect Heights, Ft. Greene, Boerum Hill, Park Slope, or even Windsor Terrace or Ditmas Park (though the last two are pretty far, you can get a lot and it's pretty).

But I like living in Boston ish...
Doesn't feel too grindy.

:/

Then again it's pretty much all I've known since graduation. I didn't expect to like it this much either to be honest.

But yeah, if you don't have a ton of stuff and you're moving during the summer rush i'd look for a sublease in any of the areas i mentioned with the eventual goal of signing a lease once you get your bearings. I made the mistake of just moving into the city without having any idea of where i wanted to live and i ended up living too far away from my work in a place that was too boring and I was pretty miserable.
