Fuji cannot possibly be on anything other than Nutella
post #41222 of 57256

I've only done strict form high bar squats and paused squats for over a month since I noticed my hips and knees were swaying all over the place. Haven't been able to do more than 85% of my 1RM during this whole period. Wanted to see where my low bar was after this so I changed over today and did a new 1RM squat test. Didn't have high expectations.

I managed to get 315, the weight I had planned to do as the third attempt in the meet in a month. That's 15 pounds higher than the max I did before going into the high bar cycle. Felt pretty crazy to get 3 plates as I haven't squatted anything over 250 during the last month. Looking at the bar speed, I could prob go even higher but that would be unnecessary now.

Not 100% in the depth though. Its pretty much just parallel, which is enough in some feds, but many times not in IPF or where I will compete. Anyway, new goal for the meet is to hit 330 squat and 900 total.

Your hips dipped below parallel. SHOULD get white lights in any fed.

Congrats concept. I see 350 in you're future, don't know how your training is set up but that was fast and looked great.

Yeah, it should pass but there's been some instances where lifters have got red lighted despite hitting what should be enough depth. IPF is pretty notorious for it.

Thanks!

Yeah, I think I can get a bit more out of my squat at the meet if everything goes as planned. I had another other 5-10 pounds left today and I'm still not used to squat with a belt. I think I can squeeze out some more when I've had enough practice with it.

Nice concept!

Any suggestions for routines at home with minimal gear investment? Working like crazy lately, only been lifting 2x at the gym. Would like some suggestions on what I can buy to supplement (or minimize loss) at home. Small house and young kids, so I won't be buying a bench and rack for home. But dumb bells or a kettle bell or whatever would work. Help!

Any cons to using wrist wraps? Starting to hit singles of 1.5xBW and more for bench and 1xBW OHP and feel like they'd help.

EDIT: Conceptionist smooth squat. Looked real easy

I assume you mean 32 total reps over multiple sets, since it isn't very clear

awesome improvement, when I met you just a few months ago you were barely doing 225. It's all about full-body and frequency icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Hey, so you're feeling like shit, so why not make yourself feel even worse by finding your exes instagram page?

I really hate myself sometimes. Feeling myself fall into one of those depressive black holes that no matter how well I feel like i'm doing, it's like an inevitable thing.

Gonna be a great week man

Keep trying. I didn't even know there was a cheat version. Also, I got a new high score after I posted that.

*edit* Just noticed the cheat version doesn't give you the keep playing option. Lame.

Thanks guys.

Eason, I remember that you advised me to switch over to higher frequency and full body training. I was squatting once a week back then and made the switch to 3-4x a week around Xmas. Have been able to keep the same weight increment / progression from session to session now as I did with the much lower frequency, which has resulted in about 3 times the progression rate now that I'm looking through my lifting log. Squats used to be my worst lift and now its my best. Just an indication that it could be wise to just do a lift more often if you're struggling with it.

Heads up for anyone who is looking to buy lifting shoes:

Risto Sports are now doing custom shoes for just over 200 bucks. From their FB page:

Quote:
Any color combination, any heel height, diff heel height for each shoe, we can put your team logo. We accept team orders. We use 100% leather. Modern Italian technology applied to an entirely hand made shoe......

They also have a new model for 150 bucks which looks solid. They addressed the criticism that their older model got.

My brain is my worst enemy. Fuck thinking about training. I need to be a robot that executes the parameters of a programming written for me without involving my own decision making process in it. Ugh
